  1. Keep DeSean and Matthews. No need to keep Cutler if you're keeping Vick. Greene is still sharing carries with LT (NYJ are talking about giving Greene more carries though). When Matthews is healthy he gets most of the touches, and he did more in 12 games than Greene did in 15. I'd keep Greene or Matthews over, any one you might be trading for out of your list of potentials.
  2. Lloyd is the best one on the team. I just don't think he'll have a strong year like that ever again. The guy is 30 and finally have a breakout year. I think if DEN keeps Orton he has a high WR2 year. If DEN trades away Orton and Tebow starts, Lloyd takes a bigger hit. I just don't have faith in him having another top 5 WR season again. One guy isn't going to make or break my decision, it simply plays a small role. Back to the team evaluations please.
  3. I was actually leaning more towards team 1, because of the RB's. Team 2 has Addai, Williams, and LT, who are all getting old, and may only have 1, possibly 2 more good years left. I'm usually pretty good at picking young RB's that produce so I feel I could fill in that position with at least some decent guys. Plus, even though I don't really like Greene and Best that much, some one else might, and they could make good trade bait. I view the QBs as a wash, both have a top five guy and a good young one for backup. I feel the WRs on team 1 are stronger and it has more potenial in the young guys. Team 2 has a 1 year wonder in Lloyd (my opinion), and another old guy in S. Moss. For the TEs, Gates is obviously the better of both teams, but Gresham has shown potential, and has a rookie QB (rookie QBs tend to lean on their TE's more). It is a dynasty league, so I should be thinking somewhat about the future right? How much should I be thinking about the age of players when picking a team?
  4. Taz, thats just because Team 2 has J-Stew on it.
  5. I've been asked if I want to take over one of two dynasty teams in a friends league. The league is 12 teams and starts 1 QB, 1RB, 3WR, 1 RB/WR Flex, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 Def. There will be a 4 round rookie draft, and each teams pick position is below. Scoring is as follows: All TDs: 5 points each Passing Yards: 1 point for every 25 Pass Completions: 1 point for every 8 Rushing Yards: 1 point for every 10 Rush Attempts: 1 point for every 10 Receiving Yards: 1 point for every 10 Receptions: 1 point for every 1 Here are the teams: Team 1 Pick #11, This team had a record of 6-7 last year. Vick, Michael PHI QB Flacco, Joe BAL QB Best, Jahvid DET RB Williams, Carnell TBB RB Greene, Shonn NYJ RB Thomas, Pierre NOS RB White, Roddy ATL WR Jackson, DeSean PHI WR Garcon, Pierre IND WR Britt, Kenny TEN WR Obomanu, Ben SEA WR LaFell, Brandon CAR WR Benn, Arrelious TBB WR Avery, Donnie STL WR Gresham, Jermaine CIN TE Olsen, Greg CHI TE Brown, Josh STL PK Eagles, Philadelphia PHI Def Team 2 Pick #7, this team had a record of 7-5-1 last year. Rivers, Philip SDC QB Freeman, Josh TBB QB Bradshaw, Ahmad NYG RB Tomlinson, LaDainian NYJ RB Hightower, Tim ARI RB Stewart, Jonathan CAR RB Addai, Joseph IND RB Williams, DeAngelo CAR RB Lloyd, Brandon DEN WR Wallace, Mike PIT WR Moss, Santana WAS WR Royal, Eddie DEN WR Jenkins, Michael ATL WR Sanders, Emmanuel PIT WR Gates, Antonio SDC TE Bryant, Matt ATL PK Cowboys, Dallas DAL Def Titans, Tennessee TEN Def Total, this year there will be four new owners in the league, so I'm thinking there should be plenty of trading going on while each new owner trys to get his team situated as he wants. Which team would you pick? Feel free to leave other advice about the teams.
  6. I'm curious as to the size of different dynasty league roster sizes. I've never played in a dynasty league and I'm just wondering how much player knowledge I would have to have to try and compete in a dynasty league. Please include if you have IDPs or Taxi squads.
  7. I think the man sleeps with his eyes open with how tight his face is.
  8. A question and answer from their summit: Q: Are the guys that support Vick not concerned with him getting hurt, happened last year and he just seems susceptible to injury. A: Nate Ravitz: Their argument is 12 games of Vick + 4 of Fitzpatrick is better than 16 of Rodgers or anyone else. If I end up drafting Vick, I'll definately be backing him up with a consistent, high QB2, someone like Eli or Cassel.
  9. I was thinking the same thing, but being the Shanahan system means that he'll be sharing a lot of carries with the other backs. So far no one seems to be talking about him, so I'd be willing to take a flyer on him and see if he can rise to the top in Washington.
  10. Does anyone know, with the Judge Nelson ruling, would teams be allowed to drop or trade players before or during the draft this weekend, or does a new collective bargaining agreement need to be in place before any of that could happen?
  11. A big talk of the upcoming draft and FA (when the lockout ends) is teams that need quarterbacks. I took a look at the teams that need QBs and here are the ones that come to mind: MIN SEA ARI CAR CIN (If Palmer is serious about not playing) BUF (If they don't think FItzpatrick is good enough) MIA OAK The QBs that have been talked about being available for trade or FA: Kolb Orton McNabb Volek V. Young J. Johnson Hasselbeck QBs to be drafted (in no paticular order): Newton Gabbert Locker Dalton Mallett Ponder Kaepernick With the teams that need QBs and all of the ones available through the draft and FA, is it possible a team that we think is in need of a QB doesn't draft one and waits until FA to find one? Or drafts one late to develop and picks up a stop-gap QB that would only play for a year or two?
  12. A couple of the tools I like to use when deciding who to start and add/drop are the Team Postion Ranks and the Strength of Schedule Tool. These help me decide if the team defense that my guys are playing is towards the bottom or top of the ranking. Even an average running back can put up very respectable numbers against a bottom 5 defense. It even helps when the score starts being run up, because most coaches run the ball and then the RB gets even more yards and points. A good RB against a good run defense usually puts up below average numbers compaired to what you are usually seeing from your studs. WRs are a little more difficult to predict. A WR playing a defense that lets WRs score lots of points has many reasons why they could be letting that happen. Maybe they have a good run defense and teams like to pass on them. The same is true the other way around, maybe the team has a horrible run defense and everyone runs on them so the WR defense rank is high (think CAR last year). With WRs you have to think about why the defense is towards the bottom or top of the defensive rankings and how the team coach will appraoch the game. Typically I like to start a WR when I know the game is going to be close in scoring so the coach has to call run and pass plays. If the defense doesn't have a stud CB or safety that will shut down my guy that also helps (think OAK with Asomugha last year). QBs tend to follow the same patterns as the WRs. If the game is close, chances are the QB will score a good ammount of points, so just look at the matchup and don't worry which team will win, just ask yourself if its going to be a close game. I usually just draft one of the tier 2 guys early and I don't have to think about this all year. Hope this helps ya.
  13. Here's a few things to consider. Are you one of those guys that starts out the season strong with a good draft and good preseason prep, but when you start getting half way through the season, you've let off the gas on how much time you're putting into FF? Paying attention to what’s actually happening during the season, and not what should be happening based on your preseason prep could be blinding you. Second, if you've been playing with the same guys for a few years you should be recognizing certain trends in your league. Are there guys that are always at the top or bottom? Are there guys that always make trades/never make trades? Do certain guys always have lots of good WRs but not many good RBs? You could take advantage of these trends to improve your roster midseason and pump up your playoff roster with good matchups. You said that you are good at picking guys in the late rounds (cheaper auction picks). By the time the midseason gets around you should see which of your late/cheap picks are panning out. Look to trade away your early round guys if your late round guys can pull just as many points. Guys picked early/high price typically have name recognition attached to them even if they're not performing as well. i.e. you drafted Ray Rice and also have a guy like Peyton Hillis on your team. Midseason in 2010, Rice still had the name recognition to trade him a lot higher than his value, even though he's not performing as well. Also, if you're good at picking one position i.e. WRs or RBs, hold off getting that position until later in the draft since your experience tells you that you are good at picking that position. Look to spend your money on the positions you aren't good at picking and grab a guy that is consistently good from year to year. Just some things to think about. Hope it helps.
  14. In keeper leagues I like to keep studs and young guys. Miles austin had a slightly lower year this year with Romo getting hurt but still went over 1000 yards. With Romo back next year I think he does better than this year and a little less than his 2009 year, probably in the 1200 yards and 8-10 TD range. Keep him. Gore is the other one I would keep. He is the #1 guy in SF and no one is coming to steal his touches. He's proven he can produce for multiple years, and dispite the slight injury risk, his performance on the field isn't in question. He's 27 and right in the prime of his career, and the two OL guys that got drafted last year are only going to be getting better at blocking. Hillis seems to have this one year wonder tag on him, and keeping him to see if he does it again seems like too much of a risk. I think CLE will want to give Hardesty at least a shot at some touches to see if the high draft pick will pan out. I would stay away from keeping J. Stewart. With DWill probably gone, I just don't think he'll be able to handle a full load. With DWill out of the line up this year he still wasn't the full time guy and had some of his touches stolen.
