  1. This change certainly doesn't eliminate that risk, but should lessens it some (not sure how much). And these tackles will still happen, just now there's a penalty to go with it, whether there was a bad injury or not.
  2. Stupid clickbait articles, that isn't THE season opener (of the NFL) it is the Eagles season opener. Really hate the trend of putting playoff games on these special platforms, don't care how many millions of Americans or fans have them. What's next a game exclusively on Facebook to force millions of NFL fans to use that. Lucked out last year, brother was hear visiting and had Peacock access because of his ISP. Maybe I'll try a free (or short term) trial of Amazon Prime to align with that playoff game. Or maybe I'll be lucky and it will involve the Browns and be picked up on a local station. I heard last night that they have narrowed it down to one of two opponents Packers or Browns. ETA That last part is about the game opponent was for Eagles game not the playoff game. Of course that could also involve the Browns.
  3. Maybe that is what I'm thinking of. I've regularly complain about the need of sports leagues to change rules every year or two, often with lame reasoning.
  4. Didn't Sean McVay run one in the first half of a big playoff game the year they won the SB? I looked but could not find that, I do see a case of the Lions doing this to the Rams in the first quarter in 2021.
  5. Just checked the news and see several tweets confirming that is likely, one saying that the NFL will have games on every day of the week this coming season, except for Tuesday. Of course we have the regular games on Sunday, Monday and Thursday. At least one (sounds like 2) on Christmas (Wed) and the week 1 game in Brazil is expected to be on Friday. And the late season Saturday games. Also some talk about a playoff game exclusive to Prime Video. Seems the ratings on Christmas were too good, even though last year NFL VP of Media Hand Schroeder said the NFL would not schedule games on Christmas when it falls on a Tue/Wed. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10114449-nfl-rumors-christmas-day-games-scheduled-on-wednesday-for-2024-season
  6. gil are you being a douchebag again?
  7. Just get rid of kickoffs and have some way to a special play after a score an onside kick attempt. Maybe just roll some dice or something. Yep I wonder the same thing, since that was one of the objections to entirely eliminating the kickoff.
  8. Getting tired of the constantly changing rules in sports, cannot imagine how the players feel. What is legal now? What is a catch or not? Can we still touch the QB, or only with a feather duster? Maybe they can add a few more things to review and make games take 4 hours.
  9. More Super Bowl wins than my Browns.
  10. The Allman Brothers - One Way Out
  11. Wow didn't realize he was that lightly used as a receiver, just 47 targets in his 6 year career. Hunt has had seasons with that many, and averages 40/year. Maybe its more of a goal line back role, to spell Chubb when they need that short yardage. Or as one report said, could be a mostly training camp move, like the signing of Huntley. They can use those guys early when they need all these reps and rest the real starters (Watson/Chubb). These two may not even make the 53 man roster.
  12. I keep getting more of the calls I mentioned earlier, often 5 or more a day, from many different numbers, but almost all with the same area code, prefix and even the first number in the last 4 digits the same. When I have a few minutes I have started to answer them, put them on speaker and then start belching and making other rude noises. If they ask to speak to Sandra I ask them if they are Sandra. I wish I had the time to waste I'd start calling each one of the numbers and playing games with the people that answer. Your wrong numbers remind me of our office, our company name was one digit off from a well know media company, people kept calling us to complain they never got the paper, cancel it, change subscription etc. Even when people explained and gave them the proper number to call some were still upset with us, because they don't know how to dial the right number.
  13. D'Onta Foreman to the Browns, don't see any details on the contract. He is 28 and I suspect it is just one year. He will most likely fill the role that Hunt had last year, which should see a lot less action since that was without Chubb.
  14. He has played a full season just once in his NFL career, his 2nd year 2018, only started 5 games (43 of 66 for 664-10). He missed one game each 2019-21, then 4 games in 22 and 14 in 23. Not a good trend.
  15. Wow the Chargers offense sure is going to be different next year.
  16. He isn't the only one who thought you were contradicting yourself. Most people (including the league) think Fields had very little value. You could be right and the experts could be wrong, but that is going to require something we have not seen yet, Fields playing like a starting NFL QB that can win consistently.
  17. Yep apparently that report I quoted was wrong. They get paid for their information, I was just sharing it.
  18. Report I read said the compensation for Pickett was similar to what WAS got for Howell, who was a 4th round pick, while Picket was pick #20 overall. Its all rather interesting since I had read that Wilson was told he'd be in a competition with Pickett for the starting job.
  19. Wow that is quite a haul. I see that Keenan Allen came from a 4th round pick they got from the Eagles last year when moving down from 9th to 10th in the first.
  20. Sounding more and more like Fields won't be traded until the draft. There is even some talk about him possibly going to Philly as a backup. https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/justin-fields-trade-market-isnt-shrinking-it-never-existed-in-the-first-place
  21. Yes that would be a good title, but one reporting an incorrect move is not
  22. I went with Swift since I traded him last year. But hoping Jacobs has major increases since I still have him. Maybe some of the teams (BAL, PHI) with running QBs drop off a bit, I doubt Philly added Barkley with Hurts still eating up tons of rushing attempts (he had 30% of PHI rushes, Swift had about 45%).
  23. Any chance we can get the thread title changed to accurately reflect where Barkley was traded?
  24. He does seem very driven and intent on reaching any high goal he has set for himself.
  25. I did not remember much of Travis Kelce's early pro or college career and did a bit of reading. Some info for those who didn't know he played QB in HS he turned down several offers from other schools (East Mich, Akron, Miami of Ohio) to join his brother at Cincinnati red shirt first year, hardly played the second, suspended the third 2011 full switch to TE with 13-150-2 stats last year much better stats 45-722-8 Then he was drafted by the Chiefs, whose new head coach Andy Reid had his brother Jason which surely played a part in what he thought he could get from him. He injured his knee and missed the first season, but had a very good 2nd year and was a Pro Bowl pick the year after. He had an even better season in year 4 other than one fewer TDs, the following year Mahomes joined the team and his numbers continued to improve. The reason I was looking, was it "all Mahomes" or was it even "mostly thanks to Reid and the offense". Not knocking the player, but he really came into a good situation.
