capnbeef
Huddle has him as 47th RB but has no analysis of him. Can anyone tell me anything about him other than he's 5'10'' 210, 2nd year from UNC, and gained 57 on 6 carries the other night? Is he worth picking up? Thanks. Big Score 1
He's fast.

capnbeef
Cause fast is good, but fast and shifty is even better.

Thanks. 950226 Maybe, but I'm leaving him under "WATCH" status for the first week of the season. Since the Duce has some cartiledge loose, it looks like Parker will get the bulk of the work between the 20s before turning it over to Bettis for the end zone runs. Staley's due back in mid-October, so certainly keep an eye on him, but don't hold the breath.
BRUISER
I drafted him late and am looking forward to seeing him play tonight.
jackshi17
You don't have to be "shifty" with the Steelers. The lineman actually open the holes!
capnbeef
Thanks. I'll probably check the play-by-play on nfl.com tonight for the Steelers game. If he plays early and plays well, I may go ahead and pick him up.

ABearWithFurniture
Wathaphuck...you guys need to quit asking so many questions and dropping names like this...I was getting him dirt cheap in all my leagues and now these a-holes are starting to take him in the 8th-9th rounds... Skippy
He is looking like he is going to have a real shot at winning the third down roll. He is fast, in fact he is very fast and looks to me to be a guy that the Steelers need to get into the game with a few touches just to see what happens. I honestly think that given the chance he could do well and up until after the week 3, (or is it 4?) Steeler bye week, I expect he will get his chance. Staley will not be back, (my predicton), until after that bye week so if you have a spot on the roster take him late and see if he pans out. steeler
He's very fast (supposedly sub 4.3) and could certainly secure the role of the third down / change of pace back for this year. However, I don't forsee him winning the #1 job barring injuries to Bettis, Staley, and Haynes.... so his ceiling for FF is limited IMO. Staley will probably regain the #1 role in week 5 after the Steelers' bye and until then Bettis will get the bulk of the carries. So again, I just think his upside is limitted unless the Steelers see a ton of injuries.
Randall
Thanks. I'll probably check the play-by-play on nfl.com tonight for the Steelers game. If he plays early and plays well, I may go ahead and pick him up. 950254 I drafted him in HOT and the game is on tonight(they are pre-empting the Packer game for Pittsburghz). I live in WI but stations are in Minesota. They probably do this on purpose.
DMD
Parker is a very interesting player to me and the Steelers are liking him quite a bt. Of course in the best case scenario, he would always be limited in that offense with Bettis there but for yardage, he could surprise. The Steelers brought Haynes back this year for RB depth but they prefer Parker over Haynes and are somewhat intrigued about what Parker may be able to do. He is under the radar in most leagues and yet he could end up with a good amount of playing time this year because I have about zero faith in Staley by this point. steeler
I have about zero faith in Staley by this point. 950324 I supposed that's understandable. However, he is supposed to be ready by week 3, but will probably be held out of that game because the Steelers have a bye in week 4. So as far as I understand the situation, Staley will retun to the starting lineup in week 5 (provided his rehab continues on schedule). steeler
Let me clarify.... as a late round flyer, you could do much worse... however, he's just a late round flyer, IMO.

I am not suggesting that you use a 7,8, or even 9th round pick on him. I don't see him being the everydown back at any point. I feel much the same way as DMD. I just see him touching the ball and making things happen.

Bettis was all that was left. I'd rather have Parker than Staley.
sfrizz
Pam Oliver on FOX sports just reported that Coach Bill Cowher said Willie Parker was being held out the second half because he was the only healthy RB on PIT left. Bettis strained his calf earlier tonight.
capnbeef
I went ahead and picked him up (dropped Eric Shelton). If Cowher's scared to play him because he's worried about him getting hurt, playing Haynes instead, that tells me he's ahead of Haynes. With Staley out and Bettis hurt, he (Parker) could be the week one starter. Though if it's just strained calf, Bettis is likely fine.
