CaP'N GRuNGe
What's up with this guy? Never really liked him, but he was staring at me at 9.3 and I had to pull the trigger. Will he do much in that crappy SF offense? He's my RB4 behind Alexander, Jackson, and Cadillac...
Egret
I have Gore in a couple of leagues, so I'm hoping he sucks. Seriously, I don't see much value in San Fran for either back.

If I'm able to get him as my RB4 in any league, I'll be pretty darn happy.
Caveman_Nick
I picked him up similarly late in a draft. I mean, he is a starting NFL RB. He's worth a 9th round flier.
CaP'N GRuNGe
All the Minnesota and Cleveland backs were also still on the board when i picked him. Figured he'd have more of a chance than any of being "the man".

pork chop express
agreed. i got him real late in my draft as well and have cadillac as well. who knows. what are the chances of you starting him when he gets his couple of td's? that is the true dilema. Clubfoothead
Agreed. I'd even take him as a #3 RB if need be. 955261 I fear I made a mistake taking Anderson over Barlow as a bye week sub. I feel a little bit better after this weekend. Only a little bit, though.
Kung-fu Midgets
For an RB4... you could definitely do worse. He'll do better than last year... could maybe pose a decent bye week/injury filler the latter half of the season if need be
cliaz
You know it was round 8 and i'm sitting there looking over my sheets and stopped on his name. I figured he was taken, then i looked up on the draft board......... nothing. He wasn't there. I have Kevin Jones and Rudi Johnson as my two starters and figured what the hey. I hope 49ers running game happens to be just poor instead of terrible. Being able to keep him on my bench as a filler would be nice. Hell wouldn't it be funny if he blew up and posted 1200 yards and 10 tds then we could all talk smack to everyone on our leagues saying "Hell yea, you didn't see that coming? that's why I drafted him."................ ::SMACK:: WHoa, thanks for smacking me awake. yo mama
I fear I made a mistake taking Anderson over Barlow as a bye week sub. I feel a little bit better after this weekend. Only a little bit, though. 955287 Well, if you can add Griffin without sacraficing depth anywhere else, the Anderson pick is a little less risky. My biggest concern with Barlow is his handcuff situation. Up until now, everyone assumed it'd be Gore. Gore has already been dinged up (though not badly) but it did hold him out of some preseason action. Plus, Gore has only posted a tepid 2.4 ypc with the time he has put in. Maurice Hicks, the Cinderalla story for the Niners last year, has put forth a much more admirable 4.9 ypc. And before you bark out that Hicks was running against 3rd string DEFs, let me remind you that he was also running behind the Niners' 3rd string O-line. Sheesh, their first string isn't even very good. (Though it looks like at least Jennings and Baas will be good to go by Week 1; Newberry might as well). A retired Niner I know thinks Hicks has an outside shot at backing up Barlow unless Gore comes on strong in the last preseason game. I don't know why he thinks that; most likely just his own personal opinion. But it shook my confidence in Gore, I'll tell you that. However, Terry Jackson is #3 on the RB depth chart, so who knows. And if you get individual points in the return game, Hicks is still returning kicks. He's looked real good in that regard, too. I'll say this for the guy, he's done something with every opportunity he's being given. He's a scrapper. Even if he doesn't make a fantasy impact, he's been fun to watch as a Niner fan. One of the bright spots on an otherwise liver-spotted team. Edited August 29, 2005 by yo mama
TheCMB
I think he'll be a decent #3 at worst - 9th round is crazy value. He's been available pretty cheap in both of the drafts I've done - yesterday he went late 7th round in a 12-teamer. Some other guys were available even later - Ricky, Ronnie, Pittman, even Deshaun Foster - but my master RB plans were already in motion... Chavez
I've got him in a keeper as a "break glass in case of emergency" player. I'm comfortable with that - I don't see Gore or Hicks really mounting any challenge to him; he should top 225 carries or so, unless the 9ers are even more pathetic than last year. Whether he avgs 3.4 or 4.5 on them is certainly the big question; I'd lean towards the former.

PackerFanX
I grabbed Barlow at 7.11 as my third RB behind Dillon and Portis. I was also able to snag M. Moore in the 10th and Willie Parker in the 15th round which I thought were good value picks.
Rovers
I took him at 7.9 in one of my BOTH leagues as a #3 RB. I don't expect much, but was happy to get him there, considering what was left. I suspect he's good for 1000 and 6, in a near worst case scenario.
CaP'N GRuNGe
Thanks guys. I'm not feeling so bad now about the pick. If Cadillac performs well I'll feel even better as he'll just be an insurance policy.
