max
http://www.postgazette.com/pg/05249/566568.stm Steelers sign veteran WR Morgan, release Mays Tuesday, September 06, 2005 By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette The Steelers moved to strengthen their depth at wide receiver today when they signed veteran Quincy Morgan to a one-year contract. Dallas released Morgan, a five-year pro, on Sunday to make room for Peerless Price, released by Atlanta. The Steelers released receiver Lee Mays after reaching an injury settlement with him. Mays has a hamstring injury that coach Bill Cowher said yesterday, before the team made the move, that would keep him out "a couple of weeks.'' Morgan (6-1, 215), a second-round draft choice of the Browns from Kansas State in 2001, was involved in the trade that sent Antonio Bryant from the Cowboys to Cleveland last year. He started 52 games in five years but slipped to No. 4 this summer in Dallas, behind second-year receiver Patrick Clayton. He also likely will become No 4 with the Steelers behind Hines Ward, Antwaan Randle El and Cedrick Wilson. "He felt he could come in and contribute,'' said Eric Armstead, one of Morgan's agents. "They were looking for someone with experience." Morgan has 155 receptions for 2,316 yards in his career with a 14.9-yard average per catch and 15 touchdowns.
