Ist timmer w/ IDP

Ive been playing FF since the mid 90's but this is my very first shot at IDP. So, im looking for some advise. Team 1 below.

There seems to be alot of good players on the wire. Anyone have any suggestions on players I should add/drop? I know Sapp was a weak choice, truth is I only took him cause Im a Raider fan and wanted at least 1 Raider on my team and he was my very last pick of the draft. Also, im thinking K. kennedy can probably be upgraded.

I know its a bit of a hard question cause you guys dont know whos available, but maybe you have some sleepers you would recomend that may still be out there.

I think you did well. Your DL is very solid, but dump Sapp and pick up someone else. Don't know who to tell you to pick because I don't know who is out there. LBs are solid - Edwards and Morgan are your starters. Just hope Morgan doesn't get another concussion. As far as your DBs, I like M. Lewis and M. Williams, but I think you can find someone better that K. Kennedy. List some reserves and I'll tell you who I'd pick.

Sorry, Here's the scoring system,

Assisted Tackles- 0.5 points

Defensive Fumble Recovered- 1 point

Defensive TD- 6 points

Forced Fumble- 2 points

Interceptions- 3 points

Pass Defensed- 1 point

Sack- 2 points

Safety- 2 points

Tackle -1 point

Plus a 2 point bonus @ 5+ TK

This Runner guy is giving you some good advice.

Sapp is very over rated as a fantasy DL.

Kennedy hits hard when he happens to be in the right place at the right time, and that's often rare.

Peppers is like having two DL's on your team, he's that good. Grant and Julius are the two best IMO...so you're set there.

Morgan will get hurt as he always does, so, throw some options out there to Darin in the Fantasy Advice forum and see what direction he gives you to upgrade that #3 LB.

There HAS to be some other players other than the ones you listed. Since your league relies on tackles, which I like, then maybe you should see what starting Strong Safties are available since they usually make more tackles than Free Safties or Cornerback. There HAS to be others out there. As far as LBs, pick a MLB in a 4/3. One guy who may be there who I think may be primed for a big year is Odell Thurman (Cincinnati). Grab him if he is there. One DL that I like who is way under the radar is Osi Umenyiora. He played well last year, when Strahan went down. Now that Strahan is back, Osi should benefit big time. He may be there as well. \

Good luck.

Hey Tally - got your PM ... sorry it took a bit to get back to you and read your post. I generally agree w/ everyone that's already responded.

You're right, Sapp was a homer pick - nothing else... :D He really doesn't hold much value in IDP leagues, unfortunately. Even with an improved Oakland D.

Gil speaks the truth: Parrish is probably the best off that list. SF is gonna have its D on the field alot... and Parrish can make plays. Perhaps you dump Kennedy (who is on-again-off-again) for him. Another off that list of DBs to consider is Brodney Pool - he'll be playing SS for another D that'll be on the field alot. And SSs in Crennel's system usually do well (read: Rodney Harrison). Give him a look, too.

Hope that helps.

Oh, yeah, you're strong at DL. And LB. No need to get shifty there.

Ok, Still need to replace Sapp @ DL and K. Kennedy@ DB . After week 1 these are now the top 30 free agents at all Def positions do you guys still think i should go with T. Parrish at DB and do any DL stand out now? Also any thoughts on Arrington as my #3 LB, he only had 1 tackle this week. I bolded the tackle colum since the board wont let me line up the catergories ( I tried 3X) My league is heavy in tackle points giving 1pt per and .5 for ast and a 2pt bonus at 5 tackles

Derrick Johnson looks like the real deal at LB, so I'd consider picking him up, even though you may or may not have to start him, given your good LB situation.

I'd pick up Plummer, too. He'll continue to lead that Niner secondary.

Tally,

As far as DL goes, Larry Tripplett looked very good on Thursday night! I'm not sold on him yet, since it's been only one game. However, he is still better than Sapp. You'd be upgrading for now anyway.

As far as DB, I'd grab SS Nick Ferguson right away. He had a nice game, and was all over the field. I'm sure he'll be a hot commodity this week. Keep an eye on Cris Crocker. He played instead of Sean Jones and obviously got a lot of tackles. I don't know much about him, but I'm awainting the low-down on him from my sources in Cleveland. I'll let you know when I get the info.

I agree with Darin3 on Derrick Johnson. I'd dump Arrington and pick up Johnson. My second choice would be Lemar Marshall. Both are upgrades at LB, and will compliment your solid starters you have now.

Hope this helps some.

My league allows for multiple add/drops per week and nobody else made any WW moves to improve their Defenses so I just picked up N. Ferguson, L. TRipplett and D. Johnson.

Now that I have this depth, I'm sure I'll be back for some WDIS advise. Right off the bat... the system preidcts Johnson as my highest scoring LB this week. deciosns, decisions.

Thanks again for all the help guys!!!

Remember, while it's fine to discuss general IDP stuff in this forum, it'd probably be best if you took the WDIS stuff to the Advice Forum. I run an IDP-related WDIS thread every week, starting Wednesday mornings (Pacific Time) in conjunction with Hugh 0ne's WDIS thread. See ya there, and good luck to you!

Darin3,

Not trying to cause an argument, but what does it hurt if advice is given in this forum. That is what is is designed for, isn't it? The caption clearly states:

Individual Defensive Players

Play in an IDP league and looking for some advice or info about the other side of the ball? Tackle this discussion forum.

Forum Led by: darin3, Sgt. Ryan

The advice forum is fine too, if you want to field questions. However, there are 1000 other advice questions there and quite frankly, these posts would fall off the first page in 30 minutes.

If you prefer that I don't answer IDP questions, then I won't. I'm just trying to help some guys out here.

:D I don't care one way or the other... I'm with you, it's confusing. The "main fantasy forum" vs. the "advice forum".... :D Feel free to post anything you want here, WDIS or otherwise. If you don't mind, though, try going over to the Advice forum and perhaps copy/paste the link to your thread here in the IDP forum in my IDP Advice Thread (confusing enough?). That way, people in the Advice Forum will be more aware of this Forum's merits and vice versa.

:D Thanks!
