canman1104
Im in a league with some knuckleheads. They want a list from worst to first in order to pick up FREE AGENTS. I keep trying to tell them that a free agent is a player that went undrafted and should be able to be picked up by any team at anytime. The LIST should be for waiver wire players which are players dropped by a team. Is this correct???
tonorator
leagues vary, but most have a single waiver process that covers all available players, and generally there is a worst to first kind of scheme that sets the order. our league has 2 rounds of waivers like this and then once they pass (like on wednesday night or thursday), it's then first come first serve ... tony
Randall
You can set up the league different ways, but like Tony said most are set so any available player can be selected. It can go either way.

This being said you should have a non-waiver time, such as when final lineups are due until a set time after they are complete like 5:00 PM est where all teams submit their free agent submissions and you go by worst record, least points scored as to which team gets the prized free agent for that week. Hope this helps.
BeachBum
Most leagues I'm in (and that is WAY TOO MANY) use a combination: A 'waiver' period, like Wednesday night, where FAs are awarded based on some formula like worst to first, or based on most recent pickups. After that period ends, you may then have a free for all, where first come fist pick on anybody left. This would of course end sometime before the weekend games, maybe Saturday night. This lets worst teams get first crack at obvious good picks, like a backup taking over for an injured player, but also lets everybody 'mine' the list for new 'sleepers'. XFlash
Agree with mostly.... Our league is FCFS 24/7 for undrafted players. Once players are dropped they stay on a waiver list that will follow the waiver rules, worst to first and other factors to break a tie. After 1 week (or whatever timetable you want to use) the dropped player go back into the FA pool. This makes for easy management of the waiver list.
