theeohiostate
Well, i'm a little stumped on my view of the Trojans thus far this half , ASU 21-3. Watching USC every game this season, i'm feeling maybe the lack of playing a decent defense is showing . I knew their D wasn't that good, without the help of the offense putting some points on the board , the D is getting whipped at the line of scrimmage every play. It's a long game, we'll have to see how it goes.
rhippens
also watching here. i know usc fell behind to oregon and came back hard, but right now, everything looks good for asu and usc has not looked great at all.
Fenokee
ASU fell flat in the 2nd half against LSU. If this turns into that type of shoot-out, USC could squeak this one out. But the Sun Devils look hungry, that's for sure.

Fenokee
They fell flat.....turned into one of those whoever has the ball last wins games. LSU had it last (with like 1:34 left) and ended up winning it.

theeohiostate
USC escaped this game, thanks to 4 interceptions by Keller. They have some defensive problems that were exposed today and i'm sure Cal will exploit it again later this season.
rhippens
yep, i agree. the offense can obviously spark at any point. this game might bring their ppg average down to about 55. but their defense can be abused a little bit. asu put on a strong effort and just had a few key mistakes. but usc is going to have to improve on the other side of the ball if they want to win it all. they are going to run into someone through the course of the season that will limit their offense somewhat. now, that may be in the championship game, but they will meet that team, and when they do, they'll need help on de to pull it out. rhippens
ouch, they are just beating on keller at this point. ahh, to be a quarterback in garbage time having to wait for the deep routes to come together. like i said, ouch.

All the momentum on ASU's side, home crowd and they come out in the 2nd half and dominated the Sun Devils ouscoring them 35-7. That's not an "escape" That's taking care of business when everything is against you! That's why USC is the best team in College football and another example of why the PAC-10 is the best conference in College Football, hands down!! I guess your not being honest with yourself, seeing how EVERY one of the 5 interceptions were POOR throws (the only one he should have thrown the WR tipped it to the wrong player), NOT one of them had anything to do with good defense. Yes! any logical person would agree they escaped this game with a win. The D sucked all day and the offense sputtered most of the game. sacosud
What they did was win which is all they needed to do, not so fasssst my friend....They also instilled a believe that they are not unbeatable..Cal,Notre Dame, and UCLA have to be thinking they can hang in till the 4th they have a shot. I guess any team hangs in there till the 4th they have a shot...better to put them away when you can...Peter Carrol makes great adjustments. You have to give credit when it's due...I'm just trying to see things with scarlet and gray glasses. Brady Quinn should be able to throw at will against that defense, although i don't think the Notre Dame D is as good as ASU's, i do believe that their offense is better and can put up 25+ points on USC, don't know if that'll be good enough though. Interested on seeing Weiss gameplan next week, Notre Dame struggles against the pass.

Like USC's MLB dropping into his zone and reading the play for the 1st INT? And for the tipped ball-INT, what does that say about USC's coaching (always run to the ball)...I think there's a saying: "the more you hustle, the luckier you get." That wasn't coaching, right? In case you didn't notice, Pete Carroll's USC teams are +60 in the TO margin during his time there. darn, that's a lot of poor throws. Same thing with the fumbles, right? But when OSU forces TOs, it was because of great coaching and great plays by the defenders, right? Not because of poor throws... The D sucked all day? You mean by holding ASU to over 200 yards and 20 points less than their season average? The same ASU O that rolled over 550 yards to SEC-powerhouse LSU? With 3 scholarship DBs? I'm just trying to see things with scarlet and gray glasses. 1036566[/snapback] That's fair - that is the smart 'glass half full approach' after watching the last 2 games, which is what opponents must have to play. Those stats (70-7 in the second half of both games total, vs. 13-34 in the first half total) are crazy. But if you take the (understandable) pessimist approach of "no matter how big we're up at the half, we will still lose to USC," then you're done before you begin. But don't forget the other side: no matter what the first half score, USC does not believe they can lose. Besides the late hit that I believe shook him up more than he'll admit, Leinart usually looks as loose as a Brady or Montana. Although I did see the Chargers beat the Pats at home today, quite badly....
