Coffeeman Posted January 1, 2006 Share Posted January 1, 2006 After 20 of 28 bowls, this is where we stand: - Perch, Droobie and darin3 are in the lead by one, at 14-6, followed by cincy and the professor at 13-7; the only different picks between Perch and Droobie were the Emerald (Utah v. Ga Tech) and Houston (TCU v. Iowa St,) and their picks are the same from here on out; - Because of the similar picks of those top 5 and the other 14 of us further behind, they are the only ones left with a realistic shot at the crown (dammit!) - Amazingly, 5 of the remaining 8 bowl picks are the same for all the 5 leaders, so only 3 more bowls have significance in determining our winner, and 2 of the 3 are on Monday: Outback & Cotton. Here's what's up: 1. Outback: cincy & professor need Iowa to win, while perch, droobie and darin need Florida. 2. Cotton: cincy, professor and darin need Alabama while perch and droobie need Texas Tech. 3. Rose: perch, droobie and darin want TX, while cincy and professor want USC. But darin, perch and droobie are in the catbird seat, needing only 2 of the 3 bowls up for grabs. Here are some interesting what if scenarios; hint: Cotton is king... 1. If darin3 is correct about Florida & Alabama, he wins even if he's wrong about Texas. We'll have our winner by Monday night. Also, if he gets Alabama and Texas, he doesn't need Florida. At least that one takes until Wednesday to decide. But Alabama alone doesn't do it for him... 2. If Iowa, TT and USC win those 3 key games, darin is out and we would have a 4-way tie between the other 4 leaders, and then they sweat out the points. How fun is that?! And since the professor and droobie have the same 65 guess there, they could still tie. I suggest they split the cash, unless we make them do rock, paper, scissors on the web cam... 3. If perch and droobie are correct about Florida and TT, then they have tied for the win by Monday night and will then sweat out the NC game total points. Also if they get TT and Texas, Florida in the Outback doesn't matter and they still sweat out the NC points for the $. 4. If Iowa, Alabama and USC win those games, then cincy and professor sweat the total NC game points for the $. So any way you slice it, the Cotton bowl will be VERY interesting for our leaders. Ohio has the same picks as the other aforementioned 5 leaders in the other 5 games, so the same 3 games are important. 2. He needs to be right about all 3 - Florida, Alabama and USC - to tie with darin3. Then they sweat out the points total on the Rose. Good luck on Monday to all, especially for your Buckeyes, ohio! I still can't believe Texas Tech's poor performance (hats off to the tide). Now I'll just have to hope that Darin wins. No offense to theohiostate, but I really want Texas to win.
