Moss is smart enough to realize that with Collins in the backfield , he has no chance of being the best WR in the game, he'll welcome anyone that will get him the ball, including C-Pep.

Vikings may trade CulpepperBY CHARLEY WALTERSPioneer Press) It now seems that the Vikings will trade troubled quarterback Daunte Culpepper to the highest bidder, which could be Oakland or Baltimore, in early March. The Raiders have the No. 6 pick and the Ravens No. 13 in April's draft. Arizona and Miami also could be in the running. Raiders owner Al Davis has an affinity for reclamation projects.

Moving Culpepper for at least a first-round draft pick and a bona fide starter would solve the Vikings' quarterback conflict, allowing Brad Johnson, who would be 38, to start in coach Brad Childress' West Coast offense next season. The Vikings then would have to use a first-round pick to draft a QB to develop and sign a veteran backup, perhaps free agent Chris Weinke of the Carolina Panthers and St. Paul.

) You have to wonder whether Culpepper's recent 45-minute phone conversation with Childress went sour.

Charley Walters of the Pioneer Press is the biggest rumor starter in Minnesota. one out of hundred pieces of Athena he throws against a wall sticks.

I don't think Randy and Daunte had any animosity toward each other. Daunte may have said all the PC things after Randy's departure, but that's all that was. I imagine both players would love to be paired up again considering the years they just had. I'd personally love to see it.

I agree to some degree. I don't think they hated each other. Both are hugh competitors and were frustrated that their genius coach put them in such horrible spots. I think given the right variables in Oakland, they could put up some big stats.

Culpepper on his way out ?

<Jan. 20> Culpepper's bizarre demand for a new contract, after his terrible seven-game performance this season and the horrific injury to his right knee, may signal his departure from Minnesota, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Culpepper's agent, Mason Ashe, told the St. Paul Pioneer Press that he expects the Vikings to honor the commitment he claims they made to further restructure the contract. Culpepper's base salary for 2006 is $2 million, and he is due to receive a $6 million bonus in March, as part of an $8 million upgrade Vikings owner Zygi Wilf granted him last summer.

Culpepper's performance last season -- he threw twice as many interceptions (12) as touchdowns (6) -- his knee condition and his alleged involvement in an Oct. 6 sex party have all but eliminated his leverage with the team. In fact, he is not even assured the starting job next season.

Wilf told the St. Paul Pioneer Press Culpepper will not automatically retain the No. 1 spot over Brad Johnson, who was 7-2 as the Vikings starter after Culpepper's injury.

"One thing I've learned in this league, no one is handed anything," Wilf said Thursday. "You've got to compete for your job, and you have to fight hard for it. If it's a given, you lose that spirit ... I would hope that when they both come in, that they're both at 110 percent... and they know they're fighting for their jobs. You can't ask for anything more than to be in that position."

Wilf also claimed neither Culpepper nor Johnson is likely to be traded this offseason, but if Culpepper persists with his demands for a raise, the Vikings might be tempted to test the market.

Culpepper has little trade value for the aformentioned reasons, but Oakland, Baltimore, Miami and Arizona are just a few of the teams that might be intrigued.

I think a CPep to Mark Clayton/Derrick Mason connection could work very well.

, if he shak

Boller finished the season well enough to hold the top spot and i don't see why manangement would spend money/picks on the QB position now. Boller has the goods to be a very good NFL QB.

I think Culpepper is looking for gauranteed money Like Manning and Vick got. They couldn't agree on anything last fall, so Zygi did give him an $8 million bonus to keep him happy for the year and they would go over his contract again in the spring.

The Vikings are in a predictament. How can you give somebody a hugh contract with 20-30 million in gaurantees if you don't know he will be the same. He sure sucked the 1st 7 games.

If you were Culpepper and you are going to get a 6 million dollar check on March 14th and then your base salary also, you just shut up, rehab and prove that you are the starter and team leader. Everything else will fall into place.

It will be interesting on how this plays out. IMO - he has no trade value right now.

They have thought this for 3 years now. Time to give it up.

I can't believe that there are still football fans who can think this....  :D  :D

Boller showed he could get it done late this season. The biggest questions surrounding him are if he can actually play a full season and if he can continue the level of play he was exhibiting late this season. If he does both, the AFC North just got a whole lot more competetive.

If he's dead set on getting a new contract, I'd agree his trade value drops precipitously; however, on a pure skills-to-risk percentage, I think he has value that will be deep-sixed by off-field issues.

Well this is good news, better than thinking the fate of my team rested in the arm of Tuiassossopo anyways.

And if he does end up in Oaktown, he and Moss have chemistry, no matter who the coach is, Cpep knows to get the ball to Moss, and to air it out deep, not over the middle.
