Coffeeman
We all need to realize that this is a completely true statement as far as Sgt Ryan is concerned, with no self-doubt whatsoever. If perception is reality, and Sgt. Ryan perceives this to be true, we will never be able to persuade him otherwise. I for one, do not have a problem with it at all... But if they lose to UCLA again, we'll see if that colors his perception.

theeohiostate
Checking on some final season polls since the inception of the AP in 1936 , here's what i found: Notre Dame 9 National Titles OSU, OU and Alabama with 7 National Titles USC with 6 Texas and Nebraska with 4 each and scUM with just 2 Before the AP Poll was founded the IVY League with Yale,Princeton,Cornell, Penn St and Harvard ruled the National scene. If these retroactive polls are included in the "best team" discussion, then Notre Dame and Alabama can add another 4 or so apeice and are clearly the best teams of all-time. I was a big Alabama fan when i was younger, my mothers family resides from there still and Bear Byrant will always be revered by any college sports fan. rbmcdonald
"The Oklahoma Sooners are the greatest football team ever thread. " 1287214 IMO the simple FACT that OU's all-time record vs UT is 56 Losses, 39 Wins and 5 Ties is ample evidence to disprove the assertion that OU is the or are the greatest football ever. If you would like to propose another assertion, we can debate that. For the mathematically challenged, that is a 39 winning percentage for OU, vs a team that is certainly one of their top two rivals, if not their top rival. So if you want to go back since the early turn of the century of 1900 Texas leads, but I hope to live another 30 yrs and watch OU surpass Texas in that all time series. If you don't want to go back into history, then Texas is the reigning NC. Either way they are better than Zero U.

Words, do have meaning. That tends to be important in a conversation. However, if your definition of "ever" is you lifetime (you know a clinical case of Narcissism would explain many things), we can look at that: Last 30 Years OU is 13-14-3 vs UT Last 20 Years OU is 10-9-1 vs UT Last 10 Years OU is 6-4-0 vs UT Where exactly does the trounce come in? Yes, last 5 Years 0U is 4-1 vs UT, some might consider that a trounce. However, this time the comment did not include the word "ever", but rather the phrase, "my lifetime". Now, if you are in fact 5 years old, I will give you the word "trounce” and that too would go along way in explaining things.

When texas won, they sqeaked by, OU has spanked Texas repeatedly in the 80s and the 2000's 1292549 OK, so your definition of the best team ever is, in part, the team that while having a losing record against thier biggest rival, when they do when they have a bigger margin of victory, then thier margin of loss, when they lose? As for me, I will take UT's 56-39-5 record vs OU, over OU's higher margin of victory, when they do win.
