Menudo
Everything has been about the penalties, but, I wanted to give some of my thoughts about some other things from this Super Bowl. 1. It is a shame that the Super Bowl wasn't a more well-played, less controversial game, because what the Steelers just accomplished might have been the most impressive playoff run in football history. #6 seed beats #3, 1, & 2 in the AFC, and then the NFC's #1 in the Super Bowl. 2. Ben Roethlisberger looked like he did in last year's AFC Championship game. He made a few decent plays, but for the most part he was awful. That INT in the redzone was a killler. If the Steelers get 7 there, all of this officiating talk would be moot, because the game wouldn't have been close. Though his Super Bowl performance was garbage, Ben took a big step forward this year, and had played flawlessly in the playoffs, even puttting the team on his back at times. In one sense, it could be good, despite all his records, Ben still has something to prove, and will hopefully get back again to get a chance to perform better in a Super Bowl. 3. When the Steelers tried to blitz early, the Seahawks did a GREAT job of picking them up. The Steelers then decided to drop 8 into coverage for the most part the rest of the game. 4. Hines Ward was awesome. He dropped a catchable, though it would have been difficult, ball in the endzone. I told my wife, he will make up for it with a big play at sometime, and he did. This guy plays with so much heart and passion. 5. Seahawks did a great job of controlling Troy Polalmalu and essentially took him out of the game. 6. I thought Matt Hasselbeck played well. He had several drops go against him, and the tough penalty as well. He is an impressive QB. 7. Holmgren and the Seahawks coaching staff's clock mangement was awful at the end of the 1st half. 8. Willie Parker really needs to start running through tacklers. He did early in the year, but lately, he has been going down on first contact often. He is a nice homerun threat though, as was shown on this TD run. 9. Kudos to Cowher/Whisenhunt for timing the trick play perfectly again. Randle-El threw the most impressive pass of the game. 10. Seahawks defense is under-rated. They made things real difficult for a Steeler offense that had been in a groove. I know the Seahawks are understandably angry, but congratulations on a great season, and that team has the talent to get back there again.. Despite the controversy, it feels great to be a fan of the Super Bowl Champions. I was wondering if would ever happen in my lifetime, after many close calls but no cigars. The Steelers gave me 4 weeks of excitement, and I can't wait until next year.

IMO bye weeks are bad for the playoffs. teams come out flat.both teams in this SB came out flat and the Steelers played great and are the SB champions BUT IMO if the Colts don't have so many bye weeks(including benching their players at the end of the season) they are the SB champions. 2.Ben is a fine young QB who was very very shaky yesterday. he was lucky he did not have 2 to 3 more int's than he had yesterday. that being said he has started off his career fine and as bad as he played, he now has a ring and should be much more settled down in future playoffs, so in a way it was good as they won the SB with a young QB who was still learning. this bodes well for Pitt's futute. 3.I was amazed both offenses did not score more as both teams offensive lines did great jobs. 4.Ward was amazing and IMO was the ONLY choice for MVP. could not have happened to a better person and more complete WR.(although I thought he tried showing ben up a little on 1 pass that he could of caught but was low when he waved back to ben to bring the passes up in front of everyone.) but it was the SB, people do lots of things that come off wrong when not meant to. 5.And Porter too. neither really did much. that says alot about the rest of the Pitt defense. 6.He did play well, as did his 0-line. He needs to practice the 2 minute drill though. 7.Agreed. I am not sure what happened as Holmgren usually has a good grasp on those sorts of things. 8.I don't think Parker is the RB of the future for Pitt. He looks to me more like a 3rd down back and I would not be suprised if they had a new starter at that position next year. 9.Gadget plays are the thing that makes the Pitt offense go IMO. and they showed it to the world last night. 10. I don't think they are underrated or overrated. they were good compared to other NFC defenses(outside the bears). but IMO they are slightly above average.
