Former draft bust turns over new leaf!!! Former San Diego QB Ryan Leaf, one of the biggest draft busts in recent memory, is back in football after signing on as the quarterbacks’ coach at West Texas A&M. Leaf, the former Washington State star, was drafted second overall by San Diego in 1998, but had an undistinguished five-year career in the NFL which was plagued by injuries, along with numerous off-the-field problems.

Oh great....that guy is going to be molding young football players minds??  Brilliant move on A&M's part!

Leaf was on with Dan Patrick this afternoon. Granted it was only a 5 minute radio interview, but he certainly sounded like a changed man. Very reserved, respectful. Said that his biggest regret in life was the locker room blowup in San Diego. Patrick asked alot of questions, to the point where I thought he was trying to push Leaf's buttons so that he would say something controversial, but Leaf didn't bite. The most interesting thing he said was that he simply didn't get it done in the NFL and he was the one who had to live with that the rest of his life. I sure gained some amount of respect for the guy after hearing the interview.

Well, I have to see it (actions speak louder than words) to believe it, but everyone deserves a second chance and the "benefit of the doubt".

Then again thats easy for me to say...I wonder what Charger fans think :D

As someone who grew up in Eastern Washington and was mesmerized by his talent in the college days (I admit, I thought he would be a GREAT pro player)....I don't buy it. A tool is a tool is a tool.

I'm still getting over his antics. Time will tell, but it's hard to imagine such a jerk doing a 180 and becoming mister nice guy!!! :D

I dont blame you for hating him!! I wouldn't ever be able to forgive a guy if he sabatoged our franchise after using the #2 overall pick on him, the way he did you guys...

But you guys have recovered mighty nicely from that!

Thanks Gdawg! I had successfully forgotten about that guy! :D

Wait!! I think I've heard that, oh yeah, you said that to me yesterday...I guess I deserved that by reminding you of Elvis.. :D

That said, I'm not sure you can compare Drunk to Leaf....we drafted Drunk late in the first round, kind of took a chance on him...they drafted Leaf as the savior of a franchise at #2 overall...

Now check back with me in a few years....Alex Smith would be a good comparison if he didnt make it (but he is going to win us a couple of Super Bowls!! :D )

My brother went to VaTech about the same time as Druckenmiller, he passed out once in the hallway of my brother's dorm. Apparently Jim should drop the "c" and substitute an "n" from what Hokie fans have told me :D
