They also have Driver, Frguson, Chatman and terrence Murphy. If it were up to me I would redo his contract if he has another great year. 1 isn't enough to prove anything. Guest ksu70
He does not have a leg to stand on right now...literally. I agree with Randall. Come in, do the job and get your money then. He is 28 years old and he wants his big contract, which I don't blame him for wanting to get, but he has to perform now.
Big John
He still wants the big contract again this year after the Rosenhaus fiasco last year?
Chavez
My take last year was they should initiate talks and give him a "if you're first half of the year is on par with '04 and the latter part of '03, we'll give you an extension/new deal midway through"; I don't see any reason that stance should change. Especially now that he has to show he's recovered from the knee injury.

loyalboyd
I laugh at this because this proves the one time he should have done what his agent said. SIT. Now he is injured and he wont get that money PERIOD! Because this will take 2 yrs to heal far as the knee is concerned. His age is the biggest problem now. For me looking at this he'll be 30 to get back to where he was because out side of the physical he got to deal with the mental aspect. He really messed up by not following what his agent said. Maybe he saw a hold out as robbing him of the joy of the game and the chance to continue to live the dream of getting paid anything to play the sport he loves. Maybe team comes first and he knew the Packers needed him to be able to compete. Maybe he figured out that all of those things are worth more than padding his money-sucking lecherous agent's wallet? Maybe he understood that "more money than I'll ever need and playing" is farrrr better than "not playing and hoping for even more money than I'll ever need". Maybe the injury makes him work all the harder to get back to the level and be justly rewarded with a handsome raise -- when his contract is up for renewal. Then again, they say he's still unhappy, so maybe not. Maybe he does thinks like you.

I don't know where you work, but if you are under contract do you hold out when the company has a big deal in the works and needs everyone at the office or the plant? Do you threaten to stay at home until they pay you more? "McGuire, who was hired by Walker last year to replace Drew Rosenhaus, said he intentionally had not talked contract with his client. "We want to focus on getting healthy," McGuire said. "Then once he gets healthy, that's a bridge we'll cross when we get to that time." As Walker decides whether he wants to play again for the Packers, Brett Favre's pending decision on retirement and how Thompson tries to improve a 4-12 team would seem to be major issues in his next move. "But to be honest with you, he hasn't looked at any of that," McGuire said. "When I tell you he's in a vacuum, he is in a vacuum. If we look at anything else it will take away from what he has in front of him." Based on Walker's tireless work ethic and progress to date, McGuire thinks he will be ready for the start of training camp. The Packers have no intention of committing major dollars to Walker until they can see what type of player he is after the surgery. Walker must prove he is back in top form in order to obtain a blockbuster deal from the Packers or another team as an unrestricted free agent in 2007. NAUgrad
I just had a thought on this. What if GB said okay we'll redo your contract. There will be no signing bonus, you'll make the same money you do now, but it will be incentive laden. So if you do well, then you will be nicely rewarded. Also, if you end the year hitting certain milestones, then you will receive a roster bonus (sort of a late signing bonus). This way, if Walker does great then he has a higher ceiling in making money. If he falls on his face, then there's no change in dollars. The only issue I see with this is that it may set a precident encouraging others to renegotiate as well. Not sure about that one. Swiss Cheezhead
He'll play for the Packers next season. He doesn't have a choice. Players under contract not only don't get paid while holding out, but if they're not in camp 30 days before the start of the regular season, they can also be fined. That's widely believed to be the reason Brian Westbrook came back to training camp last summer. The only players who can hold out with no penalty (aside from not getting paychecks) are franchise/transition players (or restricted free agents) who haven't signed their tenders. mggoilers
Javon Walker when he gets healthy is a top 10 WR. He'll get paid. I'm sure every WR around the league sees Reggie Wayne's money and it makes them cringe and makes them smile. Javon needs to get healthy, stay healthy, and finish the year. Walk away from GB and get paid.
CaptainHook
Reggie Wayne tore his ACL too. I think it was in college though.

cheezhed
Has anyone here met Javon. What do you think of him.?? Saw him twice, last year in Philly and season before in Wash. In Wash, he came out after the game and stood about 10 feet from me and several others looking for autographs or photos. He stood there and talked on his cell the whole time, didn't even recognize the fact we were standing there. I moved back to let a little kid, i don't know maybe 6 or 7, with a Walker jersey on him down to his knees. Javon still never came over. Got to the point where he was pissin off me and the kid's dad. The louder we got, he just moved further away. Not cool!!

The kid got on his knees or the jersey was so big it went down to his knees? Best time to get autographs and talk to players is training camp. I went there with my son over several days and he got autographs from virtually everyone.
loyalboyd
Sorry fellas just got back on. Had to work on bunch of reports. But the reason I said what I said. Simply put. If you blow your knee, shoulder or anything in the NFL. You are the NFL. Not for long. Its not like Basketball where you sign a 7 max deal and they got to pay you. In the NFL they pay for future value not back in. But better yet if you dont put out. They can cut you and you are back to either league min. or better out the league. I hate to say it but I would love to be Allan Houston or Penny Hardaway. They got max deals and still getting paid verus the NFL. Where teams forget about u really quick via D. Cullpepper. Already want to up his contract. And they are just i did say JUST talking about trading or cutting him. U have to get what u can get when you are healthy and pray you stay that way. I am just a believer that you put your lively hood on the line with each and every play or even practice. So get what u can get because who knows you might be one hit or cut away from top 10 to bottom 10. Because the older you get the harder it is to heal in most cases.
