PantherDave
From what the local sports show was spewing yesterday, the Holistic Meds were a attempted cover-up, and he did in fact test positive for pot???? So, is this the case, linky poo or something???
skylive5
This is from Saturday... http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/13957982.htm "The NFL is not expected to hear the appeal of the case until April or May. Further limiting Williams' value is that he will be in India until early April." "The substance he tested positive for was not Josh Gordon or steroids, but it is otherwise publicly unknown. Williams, who initially didn't want to appeal the violation, already has had an appeal filed on his behalf by agent Leigh Steinberg and attorney David Cornwell." Why wouldn't he want to appeal? Are we talking peyote or magic mushrooms? LOL Has he decided to stay in India and quit.... again.....?
PantherDave
..ahhhh, he did'nt want to appeal it. Well, I sure as hell can read the writing on the wall.
Randall
Sounds like mostly rumor. It could be reporters making guesses. I don't know what to make of it, but think he would come back and get oher tests done even if he did want to quit football.
thecerwin
what a waste of talant. All he had to do was play football drug free for another 5 years and THEN do whatever he wants for the rest of his life. Small sacrifice in the big picture. Small sacrifice in the big picture. 1342999[/snapback] The destructive right-now, my-primal-needs-first thinking of the TOads, Kobes, Clarretts, Bodes, or Tysons of the world is a pitiful thing. Indeed -- what a waste. But, he chose his path to the lost world ... following the downwardly spiraling footsteps of Steve Howe, only in a league not positioned to lift bans as easily as baseball did back then. Bah. Enjoy the haze, Ricky.
Fantasy Jesus
People should start putting away their shovels and stop trying to bury him. Not sure where they heard this "whisper" or if it has any truth to it, but here ya' go- http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW...ispers2101.htm "Why did the news that RB Ricky Williams had reportedly failed a drug test emanate from Denver? We hear it’s because the Broncos had requested information on Williams’ status in the NFL’s substance-abuse program from the league as a prelude to a trade with the Dolphins. Word is Williams’ appeal will be upheld since the substance he tested positive for was an herb, not a drug. However, the Dolphins are ticked off since the suspension scare likely lowers Williams’ trade value."

He has his own backhoe and is doing a fine job of burying himself. Point Two: Doesn't matter what the banned substance is -- if it is on the banned list and you use it, you've chosen to violate the rules and pay the consequences. thecerwin
I don't think Ricky's value ever got that high since he came back... did it?
rrobb
Interesting theory proposed by caller on the Jody Mac show (Phila SportsTalk 950) tonight on the evening drive was that Ricky failed the test on purpose. That he really wants to retire and do his thing, but doesn't want the Phins trying to come after him get the 8.6 mil signing bonus back. Wacky theory, but who knows what's inside Ricky's head?
