After a lot of gloom and doom over the last week, there are rumblings that progress is being made in negotiations on a new CBA. Commissioner Paul Tagliabue sent an e-mail to teams saying that the NFL would wait until Tuesday or Wednesday to say what the cap will be for 2006 and what the tender amounts will be for restricted free agents. That's a sign that progress is being made on CBA talks and the NFL wants to wait to see if something can be agreed upon before making those announcements.

No one wants to have a capless year, so I'm really not worried about this. Gives the Claytons, the Morts, and the NFL Network something to dwell upon while contracts don't get negotiated and people acknowledge that the combine is a bore.
