About time!  Lambeau oughta host it too, as should Denver, Pittsburgh and all of the other great 'northern' NFL teams.

KC is one thing, but there's no chance in hell that Green Bay, WI hosts a SB. Where would people stay? What would people do? If Jacksonville was a small market that shouldn't really have hosted, how would GB do?

do what everyone else who goes to GB does--- go out in Appleton! That's where the visiting team stays.

I don't know the current stats, but in 1992 when I was applying to colleges, the Fox Valley had 3/4 of a million people. Im sure that currently there are over a million living between Oshkosh and Green Bay.

Sure, but how many tourists can they hold at one time? And will they pay to put a roof on Lambeau? Doubt it.

The main part of the 'renovations' is the inclusion of a rolling roof that would make the game (effectively) indoors.

Which was in the original plans for the stadium complex when it was built, I always wished it would have been done then and now I really hope it goes through this time around. They have even talked about holding Final Fours in Arrowhead as well.

KC’s Super Sunday year: 2015Game here is contingent on passing tax, roof issuesBy DEANN SMITHThe Kansas City Star“This is the longest lead time in history to prepare for a Super Bowl.”

Paul Tagliabue, NFL commissioner

To thunderous whoops and cheers, NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue announced on Sunday that Kansas City would host Super Bowl XLIX in February 2015.

That is, of course, if Jackson County voters on April 4 approve two measures to help pay for an overhaul of the Truman Sports Complex and construction of a rolling roof.

Construction costs for the work are projected at $777 million and the total cost including debt service would be more than $1 billion. They are projected to be completed by 2010.

Campaign supporters say their most recent poll shows the rolling roof measure passing while the stadium overhaul question is within the poll’s margin of error. Supporters hope the announcement of a specific Super Bowl will help propel both ballot measures.

“It should make a big difference,” said Chiefs Redcoater Sharon Cygan of Blue Springs.

Bob Gough of the Jackson County Taxpayers Association Inc., an ardent opponent of the two stadium measures, said the NFL “is trying to sweeten the pot a little” to get passage of an “expensive project.”

“They are assisting the franchise in separating taxpayers from their money,” Gough said. “The NFL doesn’t care what city (the Super Bowl) is in. It doesn’t cost them a dime to pick Kansas City over Tampa.”

Via a conference call from New York aired in the Pavilion Club adjacent to Arrowhead Stadium, Tagliabue said NFL owners decided in the past 10 days to award Kansas City the 2015 Super Bowl as a mark of Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt’s status in the league and Chiefs fans’ demonstrated support of their team.

“The membership felt hosting the Super Bowl in Kansas City was the right thing to do,” Tagliabue said. “This is the longest lead time in history to prepare for a Super Bowl.”

Tagliabue said the opening of the Sprint Arena and the expected growth of hotels in the Kansas City area also played into the decision. He said the ensuing years will give the area an opportunity to do the work needed for a Super Bowl, including expanding the Bartle Hall convention center.

County officials said the previously planned expansion of Bartle would meet the NFL’s requirements. In addition, Mayor Kay Barnes and Jackson County Executive Katheryn Shields plan to form a task force on April 5 if voters approve the ballot measures. They said the task force would do everything necessary to ensure Kansas City meets all the NFL’s Super Bowl host requirements.

Chiefs officials said the area currently has enough hotel rooms to host the Super Bowl, but expects many more rooms to be added. The Bass Pro Shops development in Independence and a waterpark development near the Kansas Speedway include hotels.

Kansas City would be the fourth cold-weather site of a Super Bowl. Detroit has been the host city for two Super Bowls, including this year’s, and Minneapolis had one.

Negotiations between NFL owners and players union officials concerning a new collective-bargaining agreement prevented Tagliabue from attending Sunday’s announcement at Arrowhead.

Brutal.

Nothing againsy Kansas City at all. The SB belongs in a warm wouthern city that can handle the tourists, traffic and has something remotely interesting to do there! as well as all that comes along with the SB. They should rotate between Miami, NO, San Diego, Phoenix, Houston maybe. This is a joke

KC, Detroit, Minny have no business hosting the SB- ridiculous

How should NO get another SB? Are they going to be able to handle the tourists?

Have you ever been to KC period?

There are more miles of boulevards in KC than any city in the world except Paris. There are more outdoor fountains in KC than any city in the world except Rome. KC has good shopping, great restaurants and pretty reasonable traffic patterns.

Have you ever been to KC for a game?

Its the best smelling parking lot in the coutry! The wafting hickory smoke for all of the barbecue is phenomenal. Flat-out, it's the best tailgate in the NFL.

No, nothing against KC at all- I am in Seattle- we don't deserve one either. These games belong in warm, tourist friendly cities with alot of activities. As much as nice smelling hickory BBQ sounds, :D - that is the main draw of KC?

And yes I think NO deserves one more than any city in the country- they have proven they do a great job with SB, Bowl games- and Mardi Gras- they have the hotels, and experience with these events.

Sorry- but I just heard from all of the Sea fans how brutal Detroit was- and no offense but KC in Feb. doesn't sound all that nice.

Sorry, we do not have any beaches here in the midwest. The traffic won't be a problem and their is enough space to fit the tourists into our hotels already right now. They plan on expanding even more. If the vote passes they are putting together a task force to address any and all issues that could come up and make sure that everything goes off w/o a hitch.

We have strip clubs, Casinos, Bartle Hall, fine Shopping on The Plaza, Crown Center. Yes BBQ is one of our main draws, but so are the fountains and the fine shopping.

There were Seattle fans in Detroit? :D Could of fooled me, all I saw was terrible towels :D

And while we are at it, the climate in Kansas City has really changed in the last 10 years. It is not uncommon to have a week of 60-70 degree weather in Jan/Feb in KC, and usually it will be around the 40's and 50's. Granted, you can also get snow and cold, but in the last decade the weather tends to be more mild rather than cold.

This means that the golf courses would be in play that week, and KC has some fantastic tracts.
