Randall
What do you think? The most intriguing position, by far, in this year's NFL draft is tight end. There is big-time talent at the top with Maryland's Vernon Davis, who had great workouts at the combine and should be the first tight end taken off the board. I project that three tight ends will go in the first round, but teams will be able to get a quality tight end well into the second day of the draft, with players like: Leonard Pope, Georgia; Joe Klopfenstein, Colorado; Anthony Fasano, Notre Dame; Tim Day, Oregon; Tony Scheffler, Western Michigan; and Wisconsin's Owen Daniels, who could be used as an H-back in the NFL, similar to Chris Cooley of the Washington Redskins. *First-Round Projections 1. Houston Reggie Bush, RB* USC 2. New Orleans Matt Leinart, QB USC 3. Tennessee Vince Young, QB* Texas 4. N.Y. Jets D'Brickashaw Ferguson, T Virginia 5. Green Bay Mario Williams, DE* NC State 6. Guest Sores
.......and Wisconsin's Owen Daniels, who could be used as an H-back in the NFL, similar to Chris Cooley of the Washington Redskins. 1354522 Interestingly, Daniels began his career at Wisconsin as a QB. The biggest surprise in this mock is Greenway dropping to 23. I have not seen him fall that far in any mock to date.
TripleW64
As ad as the Cowboys need an OL, I would love to see them snag Chad Jackson. Keyshawn and Terry have played well, but they are getting up there in years.
Avernus
I'd highly doubt Reid would take a LB at 14...Winston Justice would be more likely

pedroz13
Kiper has much man-love for Vernon Davis. He doesn't think there's anyway he gets past #11.
Avernus
and why would AZ draft LenDale White?...that would be stupid when they could really use an offensive lineman...

The Eagles just don't place that much emphasis on the LB position. At least someone finally has the Eagles taking a position other the WR though. Wolverines Fan
According to Pro Football Weekly, TE Dominique Byrd had a great combine, but I think bumping him up to the first round is a stretch, IMHO.

Swiss Cheezhead
According to Pro Football Weekly, TE Dominique Byrd had a great combine, but I think bumping him up to the first round is a stretch, IMHO. 1354589 He had a good Senior Bowl (which is why Kiper is all over his sack), but I don't think he ran at the combine. Either way, there's about ZERO chance he'll be a 1st-round pick. Short, slow TEs with serious health concerns aren't drafted that high, no matter how well they catch the ball. I think 31 and 32 is suppose to flip.
Rovers
Soooooooo many mocks have the Jets taking Ferguson.... and they are all WRONG. An O lineman early in the first flies directly in the face of the Belichick/Parcells methodology that Mangini is supposed to be such a disciple of, it's never taken into account. If Cutler isn't there at 4, the Jets will do their best to trade down.
muck
Did Parcells or Belicheck take QBs high in the first round?

ced1001
Why has Demeco Ryans fallen so far? Wasn't he one of the top couple LBs on Kiper's early board?

Ryan
a free agent OL will probably be signed(Fabini)?.I would'nt be upset with Jackson with the 1st rd pick either, but don't be surprised to see Dallas trade down. 1354628 I agree, after reading tht the Auburn Tackle has weight issues and a bad back, there is no way Big Bill takes him. he has also said he doesnt see the nedd to take a WR in round 1, because that position is easily filled later in the draft. Id like to see Dallas trade down if Justice isnt there and try and get S Moss at the bottom of the round.

Swiss Cheezhead
I agree, after reading tht the Auburn Tackle has weight issues and a bad back, there is no way Big Bill takes him. 1355687 I've heard that McNeill has played his entire football career with spinal stenosis and it doesn't bother him. Hence, scouts have pretty much dismissed it as a concern. The way I see it, Parcells needs an OT to start NOW, without being too concerned about years 4-8. McNeill could do that, even if the stenosis slows him down a little in the future. So...no WR in the 1st. If they don't trade down, do you see them grabbing a FS?
