Falcon's lookin at Abraham?

While it would be nice to get Abraham to play across from Kernney, the Falcons are not interested in dealing Schaub....and that comes straight from the top...Art Blank no less.

Condensed from Mort on the Mike & Mike show.

Speculation about Schaub going to New York for Abraham is overblown. According to Mort, Art Blank has said that Schaub is not on the trading block.

Let me say off the top that I am a fan of the J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS!

Am I the only one who thinks that the Jets would not be getting enough for Abraham?

Schaub and a 2nd round pick just does not seem to be enough. I saw Washington get Clinton Portis for the overrated Champ Bailey...Abraham is a very disruptive player.

Maybe I've not seen enough of Schaub to see what the Falcons see.

Totally agree. Schaub maybe worth a 1st now or a second rounder..

Just another ringing endorsement on the future of Vick in Atlanta.

if the deal happens, it'll be schaub and a 2nd.

The deal will not happen as the Falcons have 0 interest in trading Schaub...let alone Schaub + a 2nd.
why on earth are you folks thinking schaub is so valuable? :D

It's not what we think, it's what Art Blank, the Falcons & the Jets think.

They don't have enough faith in Vick to get rid of Schaub... I wonder how many more years they are going to give Vick before they Cpep him?

Actually, Mort said that the Falcons feel thay are a play off calibre team and know that with Vicks reckless style of play, they need a good back up QB.

They remember the year when Doug Johnson & Kurt Kittner were their back up QB's :D

champ AND a 2nd last year AND a 1st this year.

if you think the skins got the better end of that deal you're on crack :D

And a 1st. I thought it was just Champ and the pick that became Tatum Bell. Was it a 1st too?

I found this

The Broncos acquired a first-round and fourth round draft choice in this years draft by trading the #24 overall last year to the Washington Redskins, who drafted Jason Campbell out of Auburn at that slot. In return, the Broncos also received a third-rounder which they used to select rookie cornerback Karl Paymah out of Washington State.

Yep this is right. Denver got Champ who's worth every penny + a 2nd rounder for Portis. Champ has a phenominal year last year with a pulled hammy most of the year.

The falcons should definitely be considering this trade. Suppose they give up Schaub and a 2nd for JA. Now there's suddenly two teams in the top 4 spots in the draft who no longer need a quarterback. That means the likes of Jay Cutler, Brodie Croyle, etc will be falling much lower -- perhaps to the 15 slot where the falcons draft their replacement?

Another alternative for the Falcons would be to pick up Aaron Brooks from FA. He would make for a very suitable backup during Vick's mandatory 3-4 missed games through the season, and would give the Falcons the ability to draft Jimmy Williams / Michael Huff / Tyee Hill / whoever.

As a falcons fan, I'd be thrilled with this. I'd hate to see Schaub and all his talent go, but the guy deserves to be a starter somewhere. Keeping him behind Vick would be good for the falcons, but bad for him.

To begin with, Croyle IS NOT a 1st round selection. Late 2nd round talent at best, more than likely a 3rd or 4th rounder. If the Falcons want him, that's when they'll draft him, not with the 15th overall pick.

The contract New Orleans gave Brees, is really a one year contract with an option thereafter. I still see new Orleans drafting Lienart, the Titans taking Young & Raiders going with Cutler.

Schaub is a better back up than Brooks and likely cheaper. Keep Schaub, pay less and the Falcons still have the ability to draft whoever they want.

This is why they have no interest in trading Schaub.

#1) Short of a monster offer, it is not in their best interests to trade him.

#2) They like him a lot and I do think he is in their long term plans, especially if Vick continues to show no progress.
