PantherDave
Coach Fox beleives it begins up front, and the Panthers FA sighnings are holding this up. Jeff Mitchell was not going to be re-sighned as it appears Hartwig was their man all along, and is an upgrade over the aging Mitchell. Tutan Reyes will have a batlle this off-season holding on to his starting job at OG with Evan Mathis ready to step-up. So, this set's up nice for the OL, which should be improved for 2006. Coach Fox did not like the way the Seahawks OL handled the Panthers in the NFC Championship, but now with the sighnings of Komoeatu and Lewis the chances of any OL dominating the Panthers front four is very slim, as this DL with the return of Jenkins will argueably be the NFL's best. Randall
Keyshawn Johnson wants to play for the Panthers. The Panthers are a good fit because of need and the presence of Dan Henning, his old coordinator from the Jets. It's unclear whether the Panthers are actually interested in him. Swampnuts
I'm not a big MeShawn fan, but he's exactly the kind of receiver the Panthers need. It would be a great signing IMO.

Dare I say he's an upgrade from Mushin Muhammad.

Randall
"Free-agent wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson said twice Wednesday afternoon he'd like to play for the Carolina Panthers. The bigger question might be if the Panthers are interested in Johnson. The team has a long-standing policy of not commenting on free-agent interest and a history of not pursuing players who have had trouble. Maybe it's wishful thinking on his part, but Johnson told the Fort Worth (Texas) Star Telegram he had spoken with the Panthers. On Sirius NFL Radio an hour later, Johnson said he had not talked to any teams. But he went on to list several teams he thought might be good fits, and the Panthers were on the list. Johnson also singled out Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme and receiver Steve Smith as players he'd like to play with." So which is it Keyshawn? You want this guy? We will know Friday when the restricted FA begins, and if Prohel commits to one more year, it will be more to help develope DC and Colbert. I say DC is the #2 WR and Colbert is the possesion WR. PantherDave
More on topic with the thread-Tutan Reyes may not be offerred a contract come Friday?, as we will have to wait and see. Evan Mathis may be ready to go, and Reyes has basically been keeping the spot warm for Mathis at OG.
