Bucs meet with QB Brooks

The Bucs had former Saints quarterback Aaron Brooks in for a visit Thursday. They are also trying to make arrangements to meet with Redskins quarterback Patrick Ramsey. The Bucs received permission Wednesday to meet with Ramsey, who is available in trade talks. The Redskins are asking for a fourth-round choice. The Jets have offered a seventh. The Bucs are shopping for a backup after releasing Brian Griese.

Opportunity knocks for Wesley: Panthers cornerback Dante Wesley knew he had a home in Carolina based on the three-year deal the Panthers were offering him, but he opted to take less money to get a chance at more playing time.

Wesley accepted a two-year, $2 million deal to join the Bears and compete for playing time in their defense. He figures he can get more time in Chicago because he was playing behind Ken Lucas, Chris Gamble and Ricky Manning in Carolina.

Hill back with Saban: The Dolphins beat out the Browns, Raiders and Jets to get the services of versatile defensive back Renaldo Hill.

Hill agreed to a three-year, $6 million contract with the Dolphins that included a $2 million signing bonus. In Miami, Hill will be reunited with Nick Saban, who recruited him out of high school. He started for three years for Saban at Michigan State.

Hill plays cornerback and safety; he is probably going to help the Dolphins more at safety. The Raiders used him as a cornerback-safety last year and at times used him as a linebacker in a big nickel defense. He ended up with 89 tackles.
