NAJEH FREAKING DAVENPORT!

What is he too busy crapping in college dormitory closets to do any negotiating?  He's a FA and I haven't heard a single word about him this offseason...

His agent does the negotiating if there is interest. Other players are the focus right now.

I haven't hear anything about Travis Henry, Wells, Hayes or Richardson either. You will.

No he's just on my fantasy team and I want to be able to gauge whether he's going to be worth anything. I would think I would have heard something by now about interest from some team somwhere. He obviously needs to fire his agent.

I'm actually a Pats fan. Maybe they could sign him to at least spell Dillon, invest for the future or play him if Dillon gets injured again.

Look at his stats...they're hardly "mediocre." His only downside has been injuries. Maybe you thought Lamont Jordan was mediocre too before he finally got to play.

Well OK in fairness he hasn't got much for receiving stats either so that may be lacking compared to a L. Jordan, but I'd still think a lot of teams would stand to benefit from a 250 pound bulldozer who could likely be cheaply acquired.

Yeah, the line is literally around the block for him. :D

He's had a lot of nagging injuries. The broken ankle was the first major one I believe. He had some good games too and is pretty quick and fast for someone of his size and power.

Shouldn't be considering that he's still better than what several teams out there have. Minnesota didn't waste much time at all in picking up the highly "coveted" chester taylor :D

I am wondering is Moore going to be more productive though. With a lesser contract.

Oh don't go there.

I carried LaMont Jordan on my roster for years without owning Curtis Martin. It was always obvious. I'm doing the same now with Michael Turner.

I like Davenport too, and am surprised he hasn't generated more interest, but not that much. Remember Davenpoop is damaged goods. He had a great opportunity handed to him -finally- and he sh*t himself. Now he's both unproven and injured.

Agreed, noone is worrying about signing 3rd string backs yet.

Disagreed about Najeh being a 3rd stringer.

He WAS the backup to Ahman Green who was a monster until last season. Najeh IMHO should be the guy to take over for Ahman, not Samkon. He has proven that he can carry the rock, and do it efficiently. He also has decent hands out of the backfield, although he is a power back. But that's all my opinion as a non-Packer fan.

Why isn't the world chomping to sign him? Hmm ... He's only started 2 NFL Games in four years, has missed 25 of 64 games in those four years, and averages less than two TDs per year? That having been said, Davenport's 4.7 yards per attempt is a nice number ... Somebody will sign him -- he just hasn't done enough on the field to overcome his rep re: injuries and off-field antics.

He did take over but broke his ankle the 1st game I believe.

He has carried he load for a game, but hasn't really stayed healthy. BJ could be right, teams may know more about his recovery than we do.

Dolphins: Davenport given a look

The News

The Dolphins entertained former Packers running back Najeh Davenport on Tuesday, reports the Miami Herald. Davenport rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns with the Packers before breaking his ankle in October.

Our View

Any contract offer would likely be an incentive-laden deal given Davenport's long history of injury. With that said, Najeh would be an intriguing pickup for the Dolphins. He has ties to the area as a former Miami Hurricane and could give the team a big, North-South style runner to complement Ronnie Brown. Those hoping Brown would carry a full load this season, however, can't be too excited that the Fish are taking a look at Davenport.
