Totally illogical and your argument doesn't even consider the actual sequence of events.  Try again.

I hit it square on the head, there is no reason to try again. You may want to look at the actual sequence of events before commenting.

The article again for you

The fact is, Brees was left on Tuesday morning with nowhere else to go after he essentially failed the very rigorous physical examination the Miami Dolphins administered to him the previous day. Physical exams in the NFL are very subjective things, and the Miami medical staff felt that Brees' surgically repaired shoulder, although improving, wasn't quite far enough along for the financial exposure the Dolphins would have had if they had agreed to sign the former San Diego starter.

So, on Monday evening, with the medical evaluations in hand, the Dolphins, after determining that Brees and agent Tom Condon wouldn't reduce the contractual liability, turned their attentions back to acquiring quarterback Daunte Culpepper in a trade. Then, very early Tuesday morning -- reliable sources told ESPN.com -- Dolphins coach Nick Saban apprised Condon that Miami was out of the bidding for Brees. In fairness to Brees, Saban told Condon, the Dolphins would stay quiet about the results of the physical exam and the pending trade for Culpepper for a few hours. That would provide Condon and Brees, who had no negotiating leverage remaining with the Dolphins suddenly out of the picture, some time to complete the six-year, $60 million deal with Saints officials .In the end, the Dolphins simply thought Culpepper had a better chance of being on the field for training camp than Brees did.

"We're talking the quarterback position, right?" one Miami source said. "So what would you rather have, a guy coming off knee surgery or off shoulder surgery? You don't throw with your knee."

Once Miami acquired Culpepper, they could have leaked to the media Brees failed their physical, which killed his value. They didnt, and later he signed with New Orleans. Read the article again, the agent asked Miami to keep that info quiet so he would have leverage with new Orleans. Here is the quote again In fairness to Brees, Saban told Condon, the Dolphins would stay quiet about the results of the physical exam and the pending trade for Culpepper for a few hours. That would provide Condon and Brees, who had no negotiating leverage remaining with the Dolphins suddenly out of the picture, some time to complete the six-year, $60 million deal with Saints officials Why would that even be said if Miami didnt already have Culpepper and could squash his earning potential with New Orleans. It obviously couldnt.

Besides Brees is a joke, and he is going to keep that franchise in ruin another 5 yrs.

See New Orleans will pass on a real QB in the draft now, and pin its hopes on Brees to be the savior when he is a brian griese clone QB back in denver, a prodcut of the system. But just like griese when he changed teams, he will fail. And even worse New Orleans has no defense, a gimpy shouldered QB, gimpy RB, and an aging #1 WR. yeah that is the recipe for success on offense.

blah blah blah

If you want to believe Pasquarelli and his “reliable sources” (i.e., Miami sources who were undoubtedly trying to put the best possible spin on the situation after failing to get their first choice of QBs), that is your prerogative. Didn’t ESPN report the Saints would never play another game in Louisiana, then report the Saints would never play another game in New Orleans ? Not everything you read or see on ESPN is exactly the truth. Don’t kid yourself, Miami did Brees no “favors”, in fact, there is simply no reason other than bitterness and spin control to even mention Brees’ physical after he had signed with the Saints and they had signed Culpepper.

But to the point -- the real fallacy of your argument lies in the presumption that if Miami had announced that Brees “failed” their physical that it would have had any affect on Brees’ dealings or potential earnings with the Saints (and for the record, let’s be honest here, had Brees taken the Miami offer, he would have “passed” their physical, just as Culpepper “passed” his). This really is quite simple, I’ll go slowly so you can keep up:

Brees visited New Orleans on Saturday and Sunday, and was examined by the Saints medical personnel (yes, the Saints do have team doctors too, probably much to everyone's surprise). In addition, Sean Payton specifically stated that the Saints spent a lot of time researching the injury and talking with Dr. Andrews who performed the surgery. They decided the risk was acceptable and put their offer on the table Sunday night before Brees left for his Miami visit, and the Saints never waffled in that offer. Their offer was not, repeat was not, contingent on any other team’s offer or any other team’s physical, period, end of story. From the point the Saints offer was put on the table, there were two possible outcomes that existed: Brees was either going to [a] sign with Miami (or some other team) or take that offer. Do you have any sense of honor or good will ?? One doesn’t exactly show those traits nor express confidence and support in your new QB and team leader (not to mention potentially souring any future contract negotiations when other players hear of that) by playing hard-ball and changing your offer at that point.

To be honest, I’m not sure why I wasted my time or this bandwidth to spell all this out. It’s clear you have some serious issues if you feel it necessary to make statements like:

If Brees was being a pr*ck and holding out for more cash...

or

Besides Brees is a joke, and he is going to keep that franchise in ruin another 5 yrs.

Flame away, I’m sure this will draw another raving diatribe. However, I won’t be reading it or any of your future venom. Ignore really does work quite well …
