i_am_the_swammi
according to unamed sources via 610WIP in Philly, it appears ESPN will open their innaugural Monday Night slate with the Cowboys @ Eagles, forgoing the past few years of Monday night traditionally hosting the Super Bowl runner-up. Not set in stone, as NBC has first choice of games for the Sunday Night programming, but it appears all but done, according to Howard Esking of 610WIP. Nothing like jumping right into the fire, eh? Big John
It was perceived that NBC would get the marquee games and ESPN getting their usual slate again, and this proves it.

no one
@Eagles or @Cowboys? I though Dallas was slated to start the season at home this year.
i_am_the_swammi
@Eagles or @Cowboys? 1387208 It was reported the game would be at Phialdelphia, as much of the conversation that followed involved how scarce (and pricy) the tickets would be, drawing comparisons to the NFC Championship games. Follow-up reports that Duracell would be a big advertiser were erroneous.

TO has never dominated the Eagles...JJ's scheme will pretty much keep him under wraps... I'm more concerned about Witten making plays and Glenn getting an occasional deep catch I'm not scared of their running game and our DL is better than last year in the pass rush dept......especially now that McNabb won't be playing hurt...we won't go 3 and out every drive until he "warms up" the abdominal area...so the defense won't be tired by the time the 4th quarter rolls around
spain
The lead into the game can be like the locker room skit T.O. did with the Desperate Houswives chick. But instead, this one he can do in the Cowboys locker room with one of the dudes from Brokeback Mountain...

CaptainHook
@Eagles or @Cowboys? I though Dallas was slated to start the season at home this year. 1387208 There is no "formula" for when you get a season opener at home or away. The Colts have opened on the road for six straight years. The Cardinals haven't had a season opener at home since they moved to the desert. The NFL tries to ensure sell-outs, and boost Opening Day attendance records, so teams that have larger stadiums tend to get more season openers at home. charty
I checked the last few years, and it looks like this..... Thur.....................................Mon 2002 SF @ NYG....................2002 Pitt @ NE (Won SB) 2003 NYJ @ WAS..................2003 TB (Won SB) @ Philly 2004 IND @ NE (Won SB).....2004 GB @ Carolina (Lost SB) 2005 OAK @ NE (Won SB).....2005 Philly @ Atl (Lost SB) The Superbowl winner has been involved in a marque game on opening weekend for the last 4 years. The Thursday opener started in 2002, and the first year was probably based on getting 2 large markets in there. 2003 was all about the Redskins "stealing" all the Jets players. In 2004 they went with the SB winner hosting the Thursday game, and the SB loser having a Monday night game. It's already been discussed on this board, Pittsburgh will be hosting either Cin or Denver on Thursday night. The Dallas vs Philly game sounds like a no brainer, whether the NBC Sunday night or Monday night is yet to be seen. Keeping the SB loser in the loop, my guess is Seattle hosting GB will be the other prime time matchup.
