Brentastic
I copied this from ESPN insider. It's just a small tidbit I found interesting on the future hall of fame coach. • I've been working on a Larry Johnson feature for ESPN The Magazine the past few weeks, and in getting to know Larry I've learned more about how much he idolizes Jim Brown. So I decided to research more on Brown, and in doing so found an interesting tidbit from a Sports Illustrated story a few years ago. Brown was in jail at the time of the interview and was asked what current athlete he admired. He already had ripped into Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods and others. His answer was interesting: "Let me tell you about someone I do admire. Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots has contributed more to the work I surround myself with than any black athlete in modern times -- financially, intellectually, every way. He's been in the prisons with me. He's met gang members in my home; he's met gang members in Cleveland. He's put up money. He's opened up areas of education for us very quietly and very strongly. Imagine what would happen if Michael Jordan did the same thing." Who knew Bill had some street cred tucked underneath that hooded sweatshirt? Swiss Cheezhead
Wow -- I never would have guessed that either. My respect for Belichick just went even higher. And not just because he does those kind of things, but because he obviously doesn't care about getting credit for it. That's awesome. He really is into being the best he can be and pushing others to do the same and could care less who notices and who doesn't.
TheGrunt
For ESPN's sake, if Michael Jordan did the same thing he wouldn't be M.J.. Jordan didn't need to become a prison thug to become successful; he used talant. Last I checked nobody needs to become a convict to gain credibility, or am I missing something? It has nothing to do with credibility, but rather using your fame, $$ and experience to help the underprivelaged.

Crazysight
Wow that really is surprising and impressive. I found it interesting when he called in to the Howard Stern show following the Patriots last Superbowl victory. He said he was a long-time fan of Stern. He's someone who strikes you as a conservative type on the whole and its rare to see the liberal spirit in somebody who is also disciplined and intelligent. msaint
I thought Belichick's tight friendship with Bon Jovi already gave him street cred. Kidding aside, this is further proof that like him or hate him, he's a pretty interesting dude. While he might be as dull as dishwater during press conferences, he's got an eclectic set of interests off the field.

msaint
Pretty cold don't you think. 1388993 "Megan Fox" is tame compared to what squeegieboy usually says about various Patriots players/coaches/fans/offspring/cheerleaders/parking lot attendants/hot dog vendors. BTW, great sigline georgemoe -- GOD do I miss Deadwood. My fave Swearengin line was to Woo after Woo keeps calling the San Fransicso guy a "c*cksucker": Glad I taught you THAT word. Al Swearengin is the best TV character of the past 10 years, IMO, and that includes the casts of Seinfeld and the Sopranos. We should be watching it now but no, they pushed it out to June. (Last I heard.)

(Last I heard.) 1389494 As long as we are talking Deadwood quotes here are two of my faves. Man, I miss this show. "Get a (the really bad word)ing haircut. Looks like your mother (the really bad word)ed a monkey." "Whoa... You got a stagecoach to catch or somethin'?... Slow the (the really bad word) up."
