Bengal Mania
Bengals website and ESPN are saying a deal is imminent. Although a big run stuffer in the middle should help the defense, I have to admit I'm apprehensive because: 1) the guy is 33. How much gas is left in the tank. I'm afaid of him being a big waste of money for this point in his career. 2) I don't like the guy all that much, because he's just another player who used the Bengals last time he was in search of a contract. (I need to let this go for all players from the old days. Anyone who uses the Bengals now just for leverage is an idiot. They are definitely a team worth considering nowadays) But if he makes a great impact in the middle of that D-line, then the he!! with what I think, I'll be phyched. Not sure what grade to give this. It's definitely a big-name big-body that almost everyone has been saying they need. Now they got one.
The Irish Doggy
All the Bengals DT are getting up there in years. Thorton, Robinson, and now Adams... Even with this signing, I still say the bengals need an infusion of top young talent along the D line this draft. 2 first day picks would make me happy. Adams is a temporary saftey net at best IMO. i_am_the_swammi
Done deal, pending physical...nice add for the Bengals! Via Fanball: THE NEWS The Bengals reached agreement with free agent defensive tackle Sam Adams on Thursday night, fortifying their defensive line with a 6-foot-4, 340-pound veteran. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but ESPN's Len Pasquarelli reported that Adams could make $4 million in 2006 if he reaches certain incentives. Our View The deal isn't expected to become official until Adams passes a physical, but he is a notorious run-stuffer and would help the Bengals improve their 20th-ranked run defense. Besides, we hear Sam Adams is always a good decision.
Sox
I plan on celebrating with a 6-pack of Sam Adams this Sunday.
The Misfit
2) I don't like the guy all that much, because he's just another player who used the Bengals last time he was in search of a contract. Can't blame players for using the Bengals in the past, just like you can't blame the ones who got "no trade to Cincy" clauses in their contracts. I like the move. And isn't all, or at least the vast majority, of Sam Adams beer now brewed in Cincinnati via Christian Morlein?
Gdawg
I've been hearing rumors of this for a while now. Apparently Sam wants to play for Lewis again, he smells a winner in Cincy. Edited March 31, 2006 by Gdawg
Sox
This now gives the Bengals a very respectable tackle rotation, though an aging one. They will still need to add some youth in the next year or so.

This also suggests Palmer is ready to play at full potential by playoffs; but I'm still sticking to my guess that he'll be back to himself by week 10.
