Why does the NFL have 4 teams off many weeks but 6 on week 6 and 7? Are they screwing with us? Will they change it on Labor Day just to mess with fantasy football? I don't know, but you can be sure it is to do with money.

That's the trouble drafting in January, but still 6 teams on a bye does seem like too many.
Big John
rather than 4 weeks with 5 teams on a bye. 1408705 You can't do 5 teams on a bye with a 32-team league.
Randall
You can't do 5 teams on a bye with a 32-team league. 1408711 Yeah that's right. Perhaps they should go from week 2-10 then(or 3-11). 8 weeks would be 4 teams per week. I may just plan for a loss rather than re-shuffling my team. Nate Dawg
Yeah that's right. Perhaps they should go from week 2-10 then(or 3-11). 8 weeks would be 4 teams per week. I may just plan for a loss rather than re-shuffling my team. 1408731 You'd only need to have byes on weeks 3-10 with 4 off per week to get all 32 teams, which is what they did last year, I believe. My guess is this had something to do with ensuring all teams were playing on the weeks of the NBC "flexible" scheduling, but I could be wrong. jgcoach
Those two weeks are killing me in my dynasty leagues, not that losing some of my players will actually hurt, they need to score before being on a bye actually effects the team in any way. major-tom
I wonder if it's better to have 1 or 2 brutal bye weeks to deal with rather than 3 or 4. You take your lumps, probably a loss or 2 but have your good players for the rest of the season.

With six teams off for two straight weeks, you can be sure that it will affect everyone at least some.

I know some owners who would rather have their studs out at the same time for this reason. Don't think I'd put this in my top 5 of draft criteria, but it's something to think about in April

If those are your WRs, it might be a blessing that they are all on the same week. Take the loss that one week and then you will have them all season long. Sometimes I prefer having all my studs on the same bye.
