No, but he has been complaining almost non-stop since the CBA and needs to move on.

This is another reason he makes me sick. But he has to have good reasons. He's done right by the league for a long time.

Ralph Wilson is a great figure in the history of the NFL. He has been the Bill's only owner since 1960 were they have been through good and bad. He wants to keep the team in Buffalo which goes against the model to make the most money.

I would think trying to keep a tradition going would be respected here at The Huddle, in this day of selfish athletes and owners which a lot of members talk exhaustively about.

Wilson is looking to keep the team in Buffalo even after his death. Under the current agreement (CBA) if a new owner buys a team they aren't entitled to all the revenue sharing and would be subject to 15% tax to the NFL, making small market ownership more difficult. The CBA is still fluid in my understanding and Wilson is trying to ensure some of these restrictions don't make the final copy. (The owners haven't even seen a final agreement yet. I have had experience in contract negotiations and there are often changes and language in the deal that wasn't supposed to be.)

Espn's Len Pasquarelli said Wilson was right to vote NO and a lot of owners rushed to pass any deal even though they didn't understand it (they said off camera). The union should have asked for more and the scared owners would have caved, Ralph said and Len agreed. Pasquarelli said it made him sick how the media portrayed Wilson. Wilson is 87 and doesn't care if he appears out of it, he was being honest and I believe 100% a lot of other owners feel the same way but can't or won't admit it. Why should they, let the old fart fall on the sword.

I don't know the whole story but neither does any of us. I think Wilson deserves some respect, especially from such football savvy people here. It makes me angry that he is judged on his appearance and slow speech. But in the end his words and goals are for a strong NFL everywhere, not just Washington, Dallas, and New England.

Wilson is part of what makes this league our favorite and the best sports league in the world. Without a loan to Al Davis the Raiders might not exist. Look past his age, look to the message, even his media critics here in Western New York agree he is right on this one and his goals are forthright.

It is just too easy, and the people here are too smart, to cast Wilson aside near the end of his Hall Of Fame worthy career. I shudder to think what may have been if the NFL old guard thought more about money and politics in the beginning than about football. Wilson made and investment of $20,000 and 46 years to the NFL, and Buffalo and I think I will let him take all the time he needs to make his point even if it was wrong, but in this case he happens to be correct.

I guess I respect him and even though I think he's completely unrealistic, Wilson isn't the problem. Buffalo is dying and the city is taking the team down with it. Taxes are high and 15 people a day are leaving the city on average. When Mighty Taco is your city's biggest company, you know the city is screwed. If Galisano wants the team, fine, but then the Sabres will be sold\moved and it would only delay the inevitable. Maybe if all the people in Buffalo didn't stop everything at 5:00 to go drink every day, it would have a little more to show.

Well said. I didn't know about that rule.

Trouble with some is they don't udertand what sacrifices the older owners made to make this league what is today. The same is evident in many of the players.

Im glad you posted this before I got a chance to chime in. Mine would have been sounded more vulgar Im sure. Im glad that not everyone thinks the same as Irish on this. Ralph is trying to do what not many owners care to do - Keep the team in its home. Owners nowadays are just trying to make money.

Ralph is a well respected man both on and off the field. He knows why he voted no to the CBA, and Im glad he is standing by his vote.

Hey peepindumbmofo, get a clue the reason I started this topic had absolutely nothing to do with whether or not Ralph Wilson was good for the NFL, Fans, etc. It was totally about the pic that was on the ESPN NFL page, and how much he looks like a wax figure. I totally agree with how much he has meant for football. And honestly this topic has taken on and even funnier twist than the pic itself, and that is all the man love you guys have for the guy. :D Hey in this day and age that's good for you guys, I support your stance. :D:D:D

Hey by the way this my 1,000 post! Nice!!

That makes me a pro you peepinmofo. :D

At this point he's just trying to get any political help possible. I guess I can't blame him with all this inheritance tax/CBA crap.

Then again, he doesn't exactly look like he's trying to maximize revenue. No renovations, additional boxes, or even a name change. I think I'd rather see Mighty Taco Stadium than Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Hey listen and learn Randall, it is what it is. If that line is too complex for you, oh well. :D

I agree with the naming rights, but they did a major remodel a short while ago...

The Jills (Cheerleaders) used to be sponsored by Mighty Taco, which I thought was awesome and HOT!

Anyway, you can say anything you want about man love or whatever...Why talk about the way someone looks when you yourself probably look like the darn leprachaun in your lame avatar? By the way...Did you know Notre Dame sucks? :D
