New Vikings VP of Player Personnel

Fran Foley, the newly hired VP of Player Personnel for the Vikings has been found to have lied on his resume and biography on a significant number of details including items that would have definitely contributed to his being hired.

Read about it here on a KFAN Blog.

It remains to be seen how the Owner Zygi Wilf will respond to the situation after apparently trying to build a team based upon character. Foley was hired over two well known and seemingly well qualified internal candidates (including former Vikings LB Scott Studwell).

Hopefully nothing will come of this until after the draft! That's all the Vikes need right now is to go into this draft without one of their key decision makers on board. :D

Profootballtalk broke this story a week ago.

Yes, but at first it was thought that perhaps it was just his college football playing time. Upon further review it is apparent that the fabrications extend throughout his listed career stops in some very key positions.

If the vikes are committed to the first part, the timing is irrelevant. Lie on your application at my employer and you are fired immediately. It's one of many things we absolutely do not tolerate. Not "wait until your big project is done" -- gone. Now. Get out. :D

He claimed to be a Full-time Coach when he was in actuality a Graduate Assistant.

He claimed to be the Director of Football Operations when he was in actuality an Administrative Assistant.

Those are some pretty big leaps right there! :D

It might not matter as much in another market but Wilf comes in and wants to clean up the team's image... turns out one of his biggest hires is a fraud. Foley might be very very good at his job, but I don't know if Wilf can let him stay and still save face in regard to building a team based uopn character.

Here's a couple more articles about this. The first one is from last Friday and only discusses the error in the length of Foley's college playing career and the second from today that brings up the more serious discrepancies in his previous coaching positions.

Oh Christ....who friggin cares what he did back in the 80's at the high-powered football schools of Colgate, the Citadel and Rutgers. He sure as hell didn't make it into the Vikes front office based on anything he did at those places.
