VY was simply the best player in college football by a fairly large margin

For ONE NIGHT, yes. People act like Vince Young's resume starts and ends with running all over a weak USC defense. News Flash: he played a lot of ball at Texas, and spent 80% with scouts projecting him as an RB or WR. Between no experience under center, the Uncle Rico throwing motion, and the fact that he's no faster or bigger than the linebacker's who'll be trying to tackle him, VY simply doesn't have it. He's the Akili Smith of the new millenium.

Okay, in the Rose Bowl, that last play where he ran it in? In the NFL, on fourth down, in the red zone, no time left, game on the line, and everyone in the stadium knows who the ball is going to . . . you think VY walks twelve yards, untouched, into the end zone? No way. If the USC linebacker who completely wiffed was, say, Johnathan Vilma, VY would have been knocked unconcious.

VY is Culpepper without the huge size and deep arm, and you know what I think of Culpepper.

are you on crack? in 13 games, he had 3000+ passing yards, 1000+ rushing yards, 12 rushing TDs, 26 passing TDs (to 10 INTs), 60+% completion ratio.

ONE NIGHT?!?!? :D

maybe when he was a freshman a few people thought about using him at another position. ya know, before they actually put him on the field at QB.

::D Jason White put up even better numbers against the same level of competition, and you tell me which NFL team he starts for. College stats don't mean jack.

VY was successful in college because he was a better athlete than anybody Baylor or Texas A&M or whoever had on defense. He goes, what 6'-3"/6'-4". 240, 4.55-ish? Yeah, so he's no bigger or faster than any NFL linebacker. People nick Lineart for his lack of a cannon, but VY's arm strength isn't near that of Lineart's. He's almost never taken snaps under center, either.

I guess I'll put it this way, especially in terms of the Titans wanting him: who will do better in Norm Chow's system, Lineart or Young?

Leinart has the weakest arm of the 3.  Actually, Cutler has the strongest arm of the 3.  Leinart's arm strenth is the major concern with him playing at the next level.

Cutler's arm is way stronger than either VY or Lineart. Cutler's got like a 60+ yard cannon. VY can zip the short and medium passes--which, really, is all you need--but he doesn't have the pretty long ball.

Lineart = Carson Palmer with delusions of Hollywood grandeur

Young = Akili Smith with a national championship under his belt
