Has the balance of power shifted?

With all the PS FA moves and what not, has the balance of power shifted this OS? When I just basically look at the NFC match-ups vs the AFC match-ups, the NFC in my opinion will be more fun to watch. I'm really trying not to be biased, as the Pat vs Phins will be fun as will Pitt vs Cinncy. It just seems to me(basing this on nothing but feel) that the NFC teams and conf got better team wise and conf wise this OS. So, could we see a power shift?, if not, I certainly believe the playing feild to be equal. Thouhgts?

I think the balance shifted...especially since the Steelers shouldn't have beaten Seattle....and I don't think Seattle is the best NFC team...the Pat's dropped and the Colts likely won't see a SB appearance..

I dunno...lol before-hand I would have bet the Steelers..

but it seemed like the refs called the game one-sided

Really ? This is the first I've heard of this, perhaps we should debate it. :D

Balance might have shifted a bit, but the AFC is still quite a bit better IMHO.

Interesting, you still think "quite a bit", the AFC only won the AFC vs NFC match-ups last season by 3 games, to me, that is not a dominating advantage, and the NFC heavy's have gotten better, as the AFC heavy's-don't think so.

Here is what CBS Sportsline Thinks Currently. They have 4 of the top 5 as AFC Teams:

1 Pittsburgh Steelers 1

They are still the class of the league. Ben Roethlisberger will continue to get better, which is why they might be even better next season

2 Indianapolis Colts 2

How do they fill Edgerrin James' shoes? They take a young back early in the draft, plug him into the offense, and move on. It won't be as big a loss as one might think. This is a pass-first team.

3 New England Patriots 3

They're up in arms in New England because the Patriots haven't spent any money and they have so much cap room. Guess what? The Patriots are being smart as hell again. Don't worry about this group, they'll be just fine.

4 Carolina Panthers 7

They had as good an offseason as any team. Adding Johnson and defensive tackle Maake Kemoeatu were great moves. They don't have a lot of holes, and the ones they have are not prime positions.

5 Miami Dolphins 8

Even with Culpepper, this team needs to get better line play. If they do, watch out. Ronnie Brown could be ready for a 1,500-yard season.

6 Jacksonville Jaguars 5

They entered the offseason worried about their offense, but did little other than sign two former first-round offensive tackles who have struggled for most of their career. They must be assuming a lot of growth by some young offensive players.

7 Denver Broncos 4

They did a good job re-signing their own in Matt Lepsis and Gerard Warren, but they lost some good ones in Trevor Pryce and Mike Anderson. There hasn't been a lot added, either. But this remains a quality team.

8 Seattle Seahawks 6

Losing Steve Hutchinson at guard will hurt, but they did the right thing not matching the offer sheet. Julian Peterson will help the defense, but have they really improved?

9 New York Giants 9

Their success will hinge on how much Eli Manning grows. The feeling here is that he improves a bunch. This team also has to play better against the pass, which means a lot of pressure on free-agent corner Sam Madison.

10 Dallas Cowboys 17

This will likely be Bill Parcells' last year, and this team is ready to make a strong Super push. They've had a nice offseason. T.O. is a great addition.

I don't disagree, but, it was the only early power rankings I saw out there.

I agree. I think the only reason the AFC 'appears' to be much stonger is simply the amount of media coverage they get compared to the NFC. Look at the Seahawks, many people on the east coast probably didn't even know who they were until finally seeing them in the Superbowl (that was a complete assumption; however possible). But it's amazing how much of a role the media plays in today's sports, and even real life. Bias opinions can be contagious I guess. :D

Eagles nowhere on the list when healthy?

even Mike McMahon almost beat teams like the Redskins who I believe swept Dallas..

of course...I guess I could see why Philly is not there...the projectors are tired of us being in that area...but give the Pats top 3 consideration?...

I don't know about top 3...

Not equal. Maybe more entertaining, and certainly getting more competitive with the AFC, but not equal.

1. Pittsburgh

2. Seattle

3. Indianapolis

4. New England

5. Denver

6. Carolina

7. San Diego

8. Washington

9. Kansas City

10. NY Giants

That's what my GTS rankings say is the top 10 going into '06. Going into '05, I can tell you that Philadelphia was the only NFC squad in the top 10.

Do you trust CBS Sprotsline for anything? I know I don't. Here's a little something for ya, the Super Bowl Champion will come out of the NFC East. I'm not sure which team between DAL, NYG, and WAS it will be, but it will be one of those three.

I'd move Denver and Carolina down/up one spot and put NE at 7, I would not have SD in it at all, and replace them with TB.

Well, I said earlier, I don't like or trust CBS Sportsline, but, they were the only pre-season power rankings I could find, so I added it to the discussion. As for your prediction, I do agree that DAL, NYG, & WAS are all top-notch teams, however, I will be suprised if one of them took home the Lombardi. I wouldn't be completely shocked, but, a great deal surprised.

only NFC east teams worthy are Philly and NYG...

Skins over-did it...again...Dallas still doesn't scare me...the OL hasn't gotten better and the DL got worse by letting Glover go...

they need another safety and a LB to replace Nguyen
