Furd
: How's that for some expert analysis? Calhoun intrigues me. Other than that, meh.
piratesownninjas
I wonder if Ernie Sims can stay healthy. I think he's had the same amount of concussions as a boxer with slow reaction time. If he can stay healthy, he can be a force, but I think he's going to be punch drunk pretty soon. I hope not though. Even though i'm a packer fan, I feel bad for the amount of first round busts you guys have had.
Doc Holliday
The only draft that gets a rise from us Lions fans is when we(the USA) go to war.

After thinking about why they passed up Leinhart, my thoughts are they probably are still trying to adjust from the devestation of Harringtons flop. I'm assuming they didn't feel like 'wasting' another first round draft pick on a QB, but going for Ernie Sims instead doesn't seem like they really thought the whole thing through. Gotta love the Niners pick though! Vernon Davis is a freak of nature!

BeeR
DET screwed up again. Shoulda taken one of the 2 remaining QBs. People would've howled, but it was the easy/obvious choice. I guess Millen cares what the public thinks after all. Edited April 30, 2006 by BeeR

Question, who are our LB's? And before you type them in, who of those guys has made it 4 games in a row? Sims never missed a game in 3 years even with concussions. He was checked out by the Lions, Cards, and several other teams physicians and no one had any concern about his health. The Cards wanted him and supposedly were going to take him at #9. Ngata, although a good player, is not a good fit for the Lions in the cover 2 and they like Cody a lot. I think they actually did a good job in the fiorst round. I believe that Martz is OK with who we have already and was Ok wit passing on Leinart. Can you see a team with so much money tied up at QB, drafting another QB that will probably want top 5 money? Are you even familar with what the Lions need? Edited May 1, 2006 by BigTen

The people who are upset with this draft are the ones who think that hyped-up skill position players = good draft. The Lions addressed needs in this draft, and they got good value save for the first round. And I don't even fault the team for the first round, as there really wasn't anyone else to pick at the Lions' slot. Perhaps they could've traded down, but no one knows if that was offered. Overall, I thought this was one of the better drafts that the Lions have had in the last several years.
BigTen
Hey Love, you think that Martz sees a little of Faulk in Calhoun? I believe that he may have been involved in that pick. I am not saying he is Faulk but he has speed, is good at catching the ball out of the backfield and has some good moves.

However, I'm a huge Kevin Jones fan, and I hope that this pick doesn't mean that the Lions are giving up on him.

I heard that Marinelli loves him and wonders why he was not used more often. I hated the RBBC that Mooch used. For some reason he would always say at his pressers that "all our RB will get their share of carries". Why? Marinelli has said that he loves KJ's toughness. BigTen
You know I was just thinking. I am no Joey Harrington fan but at the time he was drafted I thought it was the rtight chioce while also thinking that passing on Leinart was also the right choice. How screwed up is that? I would take Leinart everyday of the week over Harrington but we had bigger needs.
