MikeTice
The Steelers signed Mike Kudla and intend on making him a LB. He had a great senior season and was one of the best undrafted FA's out there. He is no Brad Butler - but then who is?

MikeTice
Says who? 1446859 NFLDraftscouts: Strengths: Has outstanding strength...Tough and competitive...Very intense with a non-stop motor...Has solid speed and quickness...Powerful at the point...Versatile and can drop into coverage...Hard worker with top intangibles...Had a great senior year. Weaknesses: Is undersized and lacks the height and bulk you look for...Has short arms...Didn't break into the starting lineup until about half way through his junior year...Has dealt with some injuries and durability is a concern...Probably can't get bigger. Notes: Tied a Scouting Combine record with 45 reps of 225 lbs. in the bench press...Could potentially move to outside linebacker...Notched 9.5 sacks in 2005...Stock is really on the rise and he is drawing a lot of positive attention. SI: BIO: Moved into a full-time starting role as a senior, producing a banner year of 41/11.5/9.5. Junior totals included 28/6.5/4 while starting half the season. POSITIVES: Tenacious defender who made himself a draftable commodity after a brilliant senior campaign. Quick off the snap, immediately alters his angle of attack and displays skill in pursuit. Plays with excellent pad level and runs down ball carriers from the backside. Fast off the edge, rarely off his feet, and displays range when dropped into coverage. Relentless and plays hard through the whistle. NEGATIVES: Undersized, cannot get off blocks and can be handled by opposing tight ends. ANALYSIS: After struggling with injury as a junior, Kudla took off last season. A .tweener of sorts, Kudla has potential as a one-gap defensive end or could be used as a rush linebacker in a 34 scheme. PROJECTION: Late Third Round And many others. MikeTice
He didn't get drafted for a reason. What was it? 1447123 Dunno....The Steelers stole him though by getting him as a FA.... Mike Kudla, defensive lineman, Ohio State He’s the curiosity of the draft. Kudla gained celebrity status by hoisting 225 pounds on the bench press 45 times. It tied the official combine record. Big, stout and strong defensive lineman get draft and they get picked high. With offensive lineman growing every year, a strong man in the middle is essential for any stout front four. Kudla’s record will help hide any flaws and could get him drafted as high as the second round. ___________ Bill Rees, Cleveland's director of player personnel, said drafting for the 3-4 is difficult because few colleges run that defense. That forces scouts to project how a player would look in the 3-4, which relies on speedy outside linebackers and a nose tackle that can occupy more than one offensive lineman. The Browns project the following players as the top outside linebackers for the 3-4: Tamba Hali, Penn State; Darryl Tapp, Virginia Tech; Parys Haralson, Tennessee; Manny Lawson, N.C. State; Rob Ninkovich, Purdue; Mike Kudla, Ohio State; and Kamerion Wimbley, Florida State.
