Due to expense, it's pretty rare that I get it more than every week or two. But I have learned to like it (not that I had bad experiences, I just had NO experiences).

My wife contends I'm ambivalent to sushi but love sake. I can't flat-out say that she's wrong. :D

Big fan of sushi. The wife and I eat it at least once a week.

Another sushi fan here: Maguro and Salmon (the other sake) are my favorites.

Lent is my favorite season of the year: Forces me to eat sushi twice a day on Fridays. Is that wrong?

yeah... sushi is not the place to skimp. Some decent places here in LA that aren't too pricey for sushi, but it's all relative. I enjoy several types of sushi, but the tuna based sushi is still my favorite.

I eat sushi regularly but if I was you I would cut back from 3-4 times a week. You're playing with fire as far as the amount of parasites and bacteria you ingest. Twice a week is ok but anymore than that is bad news. But I guess that depends on what kind of sushi you're eating. This only applies to the raw stuff, not the tempura or california rolls.

So which pieces do you stay away from?

Personally, I hate sea urchin (uni) and mackerel. The sea urchin reminds me of baby poop and IMO taste awful. The mackerel taste like 2 week unbathed earthy girl snatch. :D

I can tolerate the big red salmon eggs but at times I have a tough time putting them down.

Favorites:

Red Snapper (Tai)

Yellowtail (Hamachi)

Bluefin

Scallop (Hotate)

Yellowfin (Ahi)

And any type of roll

My favorites are defitely Maguro (Ahi) and salmon nigiri.

I'm not a huge fan of mackerel but I can eat it.  Squid is usually the last thing to go.  Don't mind the flavor, don't like the texture.  Octopus goes much faster.

I like to get sushi grade tuna, grill it just a little and have it med-rare w/ it more on the rare side. That's about as far as I can go, however, did try steak tar tar, it was ok, and I got through about 3/4's of it. I can handle raw oysters on the half shell-bucket of cold beers, bottle of tabasco sauce.....look out Mrs. PD :D
