revhookem
Any thoughts out there on how much PT Benson will be getting this season, and if he will take over the backfield by 2007 in CHI? Or is there momentum of them simply sticking with TJones for the long-term? Same question at QB... Is Grossman the long-term plan if he can stay healthy? Or do you think there is a reasonable chance that Griese steals the starting job? (And would he be worth having on a fantasy squad regardless?) Any Bears homers out there? Pope Flick
Griese stands a very good chance of getting the job simply due to the fact that in 3 NFL SEASONS rex Glassman has yet to play more than 3 games in a row without getting hurt. I'd say it's reasonable to expect Benson to have a legit shot at the starting job - he was the #4 overall pick last year afterall. That being said the Bears might try some of the ol' Thunder&Lightning with him and TJ because as personnel fits go that looks like a good one. It's really too early to tell, and I'm not super knowledagble on Turner's tendencies with a team deep in RB.
Ursa Majoris
If Jones stays with the Bears and you draft him, handcuff Benson as soon as you can. But neither will make a good fantasy starter, IMO, as they will split, maybe by series. As for the QB situation, Grossman enters camp as the starter and will keep the job as long as he is in one piece or not a total disaster. Goopster24
Bears will have a dangerous RBBC this season. If one of the guys gets hurt, watch for the other to step up huge. As for quarterback, this is Grossman's team. Angelo has said it time after time. Unless Grossman gets hurt again or loses a game himself for the Bears, he is the quarterback for this Bears team now and in the future; that is, as long as Angelo is the GM. Brentastic
You guys think Grosman will be the man, I say Griese is the starter most of the season. I've always liked Griese as a QB and believe he is much better than fragile Rex. Like everything in the offseason, only time will tell. All I am saying is that Grossman is gonna be handed the job right away and it's his to lose.

The coaches are saying that now, but if Griese looks better in TC, which I believe he will, then Griese starts. Or, at the very least, Grosman will be on a very short leash and will lose his starting position after his first loss.

gilthorp
What are the chances Thomas will be traded? 1454715[/snapback] The fact that they just signed Tony Hollings makes this an almost certainty at this time. I thought I saw this on a crawl. Edited May 5, 2006 by gilthorp
muck
Didn't realize that Hollings wasn't still in HOU? And, who's gonna trade for TJones? Denver? Jacksonville? Atlanta? NY Jets? Philly? Pittsburgh? Who else could use a RB that's not GB or MIN?

The Bears are also blindly committed to Rex, so he's not going to lose his job in TC. Or, at the very least, Grosman will be on a very short leash and will lose his starting position after his first loss. That's ridiculous. He'll only lose it if he sucks for multiple games or is injured yet again. Edited May 6, 2006 by Bill Swerski

broncosn05
You don't want to be the owner of any offensive Bear next season because all will either not get the ball or be bitching for attempts all season.
Wizards
Let's see.....hmmmmm....tough question....maybe, just maybe, best player in coaches estimation plays....Jones will play....Benson will play....QB.....appears Griese at this point is replacement when Grossman gets hurt...but Griese could take the job outright.....what does that say if he does? Griese starts in Game 1=Grossman days are numbered!! At RB iMO Jones is the man until he gets old and tires....Benson will be relief and get IMO 8-10 carries a game "IF" he stays healthy.. PantherDave
As said in some reports I've read-"That's alot of money to pay a guy to hold the clipboard.", from my point of view, when BG learns the offense, he'll be the starter in Chi-town. It will mostlikely be dressed up as an "open competition" in TC, with BG winning the job.
