waiting for them to go over it again. They may have said that McNair has come to terms with BAL and now it just needs TEN to cut or trade him.

From CBS Sportsline FWIW:

McNair close to signing deal with Ravens

May 5, 2006

CBS SportsLine.com staff and wire reports

The Baltimore Ravens and Steve McNair have reached agreement on the parameters of a deal that will pay the veteran Pro Bowl quarterback a signing bonus of close to $11 million and another $1 million in base salary this season, NFL.com's Adam Schefter is reporting.

McNair's $12 million from Baltimore would exceed the $9 million he was due to make in Tennessee. Last weekend, the Titans gave McNair's representative, Bus Cook, permission to negotiate with the Ravens. It didn't take them long to strike an agreement. Now it's just a matter of how and when the Titans want to end their relationship with McNair.

When they do, it will be financially rewarding. Once McNair is traded or released, the Titans will free up $9 million against their salary cap -- money they can use to sign their No. 1 draft pick, quarterback Vince Young, and rookie running back LenDale White

Wow so Vince or Volek guys?  I'm excited to see Vince get the starting role first year.  Now I'm even happier Leinart fell.  :D  But what do you guys predict for McNair in BAL will Boller still start or is the project over?? :D

If the deal is for what CBS is reporting then I would have to say McNair is the starter.

ESPN Minicamp Reports just said word out of Nashville is nothing will happen with McNair until the arbitrator rules on grievance, which is set for May 16th.

While a deal/contract has indeed been struck between McNair & Baltimore, the Titans aren't playing along.

Sportscenter just also said it was for $12 million and just needs the Titans to get rid of him officially. Titans could cut him now or just screw with BAL and hold on to him for a few months.

That's what the Baltimore Sun has reported.

"If he is released or traded by the Tennessee Titans, Steve McNair will be ready to sign on immediately as the new Ravens quarterback.

The two-time Pro Bowl player has agreed on the parameters of a contract with the Ravens that will pay him a signing bonus close to $11 million and an additional $1 million in base salary, according to the NFL's Web site.

The length of the deal is not known.

The $12 million McNair would receive from the Ravens exceeds the $9 million he is scheduled to earn from the Titans this season.

A Ravens spokesman declined to comment on the report."

Looks like the Titans are going to handle McNair the same way they handled George.

Wait until the last second possible and only release them when they absolutely have to :D

What little respect I had for this organization, is now gone :D

Titans | Team agrees to deal parameters to trade McNair

Fri, 5 May 2006 16:54:25 -0700

Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports the Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens have agreed to trade parameters that would take Titans QB Steve McNair to Baltimore. The only remaining aspect is for the Titans to officially sign off on the deal.

In the late 90's, NFL rules were amended that a tangable item (player or draft pick which can be contigent) must be returned in all sides of a trade, so BAL must send somthing in return for a trade to commense, even if it is a conditional 7th.

I fully expect Vince to start for TENN(eventhough TENN has stated they would bring along Vince slowly, he may just blow them away with his play all summer) and McNair start for BAL once this gets done.

I thought he would start the 2nd half of the season, but he could convince them to start him earlier. That is risky with Volek there, but possible.

While Leinart was in a pro style offense in college, Young was not. I think it would be ill-advised to not let him digest the game for at least half the season first. Most of his pass plays at UT were single reads. He has a lot of learning to do in the NFL.

Although he is old, McNair is an immediate and rather large upgrade to the Ravens offense, in my humble opinion. As a Steeler fan, I'll miss seeing Boller back there. :D

I figured Ozzie would just wait on the Titans to cut McNair same as Saban & the Dolphins are doing with Harrington. Get McNair for free that way.

Looks like Ozzie is a bit more impatient than Saban though. Guess he wants McNair in ASAP absorbing the play book to be fully ready to start the season.

Volek starts this year...or, at least until TEN is out of the hunt. Part of me wouldn't be surprised to see TEN bring in another aging vet as the #3 in case Volek got hurt where #3 would vault over #2 if Volek got hurt.

VY may get a start or two towards the end of the year to give him and the coaches some film to teach off of in the offseason.

I, personally, bet that they will bring VY along EXACTLY like they did SM.
