Pope Flick
The Jags are f8cked. HoF? Put Art Monk in first. Didn't he have corrective eye surgery only like 4 years ago when it was discovered his vision in one eye was terrible and he'd played his entire career up to that point like that? Savage Beatings
Saw this one coming since he disappeared for a while last season. Remember when his coach had to come out and "reassure" everybody that Smith was still the #1 WR?
rajncajn
As well as:Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, Javon Walker, Braylon Edwards, Jerry Porter, Muhsin Muhammad, Koren Robinson, Reggie Brown, Samie Parker, Eric Parker and Travis Taylor. I think my WRs are in pretty good shape. Too bad we only start 4... 1461800 ... now tell everybody how many you got in trade Mine in the same league: SSmith, ABoldin, Roy Williams, Housh, Lelie, Moulds and Williamson. 1461816 Do we have a smiley stroking himself? Azazello1313
You think so? Dunno about that. 1461815 7th all time in receptions and 11th in yards? 12,000 yards in 10 seasons. yeah, i say he's in.

DMD
This does put a crimp in the depth chart plans of the Jags. Matt Jones will continue to play the same role and the quesion is if Reggie Williams or Ernest Wilford takes the left side. Smith has been a super solid WR for years, the Jags need someone to step up big time to compensate for this.

Did the team just ignore the threat and hope he would stay? There were reports he may retire after the playoff game.
MikesVikes
Not to knock Smith, but didn't he have a coke problem for a while there? 1461557 Yes, I wouldn't have him as a babysitter for my kids. But that's just me.
revhookem
So who gets the most looks for the Jags this season? I'd guess Wilford at this point.

Randall
Is Mike Tice in charge of personnel down there? :doah: Looks like Wilford and Matt Jones unless someone becomes available. Az Hakim is available, Troy Edwards, anyone else?
DMD
The Jags have not given up on Reggie Williams yet. He'll likely be a starter and Jones will remain where he is.

Big Score 1
Did anyone else catch this paragraph in the Linked artilce? That said many thought that he would return to the team for the 2006 season as the Jaguars' top WR while younger receivers Matt Jones and Ernest Wilford continue to develop. No mention of Williams developing

Reggie just looks lost and its only so many times you can throw the ball to him and he not put out before moving on. Plus out of all the recievers he had the diva mentality. Everyone else was tring to learn the tricks from Jimmy.

Bill Swerski
7th all time in receptions and 11th in yards? 12,000 yards in 10 seasons. yeah, i say he's in. 1461896 Not so fast... Art Monk: 5th all time in receptions, 9th all time in yards, and 12,700 yds. Also consider who will be over-shadowing Smith when he's eligible: Jerry Rice, Cris Carter, Tim Brown, Randy Moss, T.O., Marvin Harrison. Jimmy's not going to make it. BigTen
Where is that guy who claimes we was a "cousin" of Reggie Williams and went on and on about how Reggie would be the next coming? Now JS is gone and not a peep? Edited May 11, 2006 by BigTen
REZ
Jimmy Smith won't be getting into the Hall of fame. Nice numbers but I don't think anybody thinks of him when they think of dominating wr's of his generation.

But he could disappear just as easily. I say that he's ahead of Carl Pickens in the voting but behind several others. If he could've scored a few more TDs every year that would've helped.
