theeohiostate
Have a keeper league- 2 players bailed and their teams were poorly managed and left a mess of horrible team balance. Rules in place are to keep 3-5 keepers for 3 years. This is the first year that players will be kept. 1)Should we go ahead with rules as is and leave these guys in a horrilbe position with a total of 1 legitamate keeper between them 2) re-draft and adjust rules as we see fit 3) take a vote 2/3 league yes to pass and restructure the keeper positon into something that will be better for the league in the short and long term. I was wanting to adjust the keeper rules to mandate teams keep a basic starting lineup thereby somewhat evening out the playing field a bit by forcing teams that otherwise would not keep a TE-QB-Def and kicker to do so. This will force teams with 3 RBs or 3 WRs or 2QB's to put them back in the player pool or trade their depth to upgrade a need, by doing so, some weaker teams could be overcompensated for elite, but not very valuable positonal players like defenses, te's, kickers. There is always desparity in keeper leagues and if you want them to be fair every year, no need to be in a keeper, play a redraft imo. While my suggestion is not perfect, it appears to me to help close the gap by forcing some trades.

But, not a very good idea to change keeper rules once the league has been started and gone thru a year. I think #1 first. Teams can always make trades. If there's no interest in taking the teams, or if there is some sentiment amongst the league members about re-drafting, then I would go #3 -- only a vote. Most of the league would have to be on board, or you might find yourself without a league. Good luck.
satelliteoflovegm
I agree, 1. People might suprise you and think the teams are better than you think. I had three openings one year and told all three to list the teams in order of preference 1-3. Because there was a clear difference in team quality. I said I would draw names from a hat and that name would get their highest rated, remaining tream. To my shock they all rated a different team as their highest and everyone got their choice. Some people like a challenge.
Bier Meister
another option could be to hold an "expansion draft" for the 2 new owners. they can pick a 1 or 2 players from their own roster. other owners can then protect 3. established owners will not have more than 1 player taken from their roster. once the new teams have 3 players...proceed as normal.... just an idea. Everyone got to pick a couple keepers, then the new guys got to "draft" off of remaining players, then we kept a couple more. Still gave a slight advantage to Vets, but better than sticking them solely with a horrible team.
Duchess Jack
Charge the new owners 1/2 the price of a normal team, and if they happen to win... take the remaining amount out of their winnings (as I figure that a percentage goes to 1, 2 and 3 and maybe over record)
