Big Country
A friend of my wife's needs some ideas for appetizer's for a memorial service for a family member. However, there are several limitations. Here is a paste from the e-mail she sent my wife: We are trying to put together a memorial service for a family member on Saturday, June 17th, and after scouring all my cookbooks, I am at a loss for appetizers/hors d'oeuvres/finger foods. I need help!! I'm fine with vegetarian stuff, but since there are going to be a bunch of meat eaters there, I don't know what to make. Here's the dilemma: We're making finger foods for 150 or more people I'm really hoping to find things I can make the night before, or if I need to make them that morning, they don't require a lot of time/effort No really expensive stuff - i.e. caviar (see note on # of people) I can't warm things up at the site, so we're leaning toward cold stuff My mom is being picky about foods requiring utensils since people will be standing, so I'm really looking for things that can be picked up or we can use tooth picks with Oh, and we're thinking lunch-type foods I believe that she would have the use of an oven and stove (something I still don't have after nearly three weeks of waiting for the proper parts... effing home waranty and sefvice place dragging their feet, but that is another story) for preparations the night before. I'm assuming she has alreay considered the simple things like veggie and cheese platters. But, considering the limitations, I'm sort of at a loss on ohter reccomendations. I was thinking maybe bruschetta as that is relatively cheap and easy to make/buy. Any input, suggestions, recipes, etc. are much appreciated. I believe the service is not until the 17th of June, so there is a little bit of time to think about it. Thank you in advance.
Bier Meister
old thread...... 150 is not an easy endevour...... -bruschetta -wraps -misc sausages(slices, so can use with toothpicks) w/ mustards -meat & cheese plates -olives -dips -shrimp cocktail -honestly..without a lot of resources, the frozen apps from costco might be best for them

Iwas going to suggest the order several of the meat/cheese, fruit, veggie, wrap platters from Costco, as I have a ffeling that ends up being cheaper than the time required to make all your own trays.
