"I excused him on a team issue. I'm going to leave it at those words," head coach Rod Marinelli told Booth Newspaper. Williams is believed to have violated a team rule, but a source said his weight was not the issue this time. The receiver is expected to return next week. Williams didn't make a favorable impression with the Steve Mariucci regime last season, and he's certainly not going to get away with anything under Marinelli's watch. Frankly, we're not too surprised, and, if anything, we're happy to see Marinelli cracking down on a franchise that hasn't won more than six games since 2000.
