kpholmes
I see one of these every year or so, and didn't find any recent ones. My local league is looking for a free site, so we can put more money towards the pot. Whats your favorite free site? Why?
thecerwin
You get what you pay for... there aren't good free sites... unless you consider Yahoo good.
Big John
yahoo.com is the only free site that I would consider. But it is not that customable and live scoring comes at a cost.
Chaos
We tried Fox Sports last year in our couples league. Most of the 6 wives were new to playing themselves, and we didn't want to spend much. It was an attempt by the guys to get their wives into fantasy so we didn't get in so much trouble. The league was a huge success. The girls, who did have a lot of help, did really well and my wife won the league. Fox Sports, however, was awful. The website did not work about 50% of the time, even past week 2. You couldn't even log in to change your lineup sometimes. We ended up ditching it and starting new on Fanball.. in week 3. So while Yahoo isn't the greatest, for free, at least it works. NFL.com I heard is real similar to CBSSportsline. Same format I think they borrow for CBS. Just not nearly as many options. I haven't used it myself but I heard it was decent. Only people I know that tried it were on public leagues with default scoring system, so no clue what sort of options it allows.

Not bad.
msaint
ESPN has actually really improved their free site, user interface, etc.
