Ronnie Brown and Carnell Williams will each begin their sophomore season as first round picks for tens of thousands of FF teams. Both Auburn products with succesful college campaigns, high first round picks in the same draft, each landing in a Florida based NFL franchise with above average head coaches where they were in some form of RBBC situation and were slowed by injury. The parallels between the two are vast and the potential and expectations for the season are high. I see Ronnie Brown as the safer pick with Cadillac being the home run(there is something electric about Cadillac's ability to flash through traffic and hit the hole at that full breakaway speed with tacklers reachin for his vapor trail.) I'm sure they'll be checking each other stats as I think both could have HUGH seasons :D

I'm going to have to disagree with you partially in the fact that I think Cadillac is the safe pick. He was more battle-tested over the course of the year, having more than 80 more attempts than Ronnie.

Ronnie still hasn't answered his question that he carried over from college of if he can sustain high production with a full-season beating. I personally think he'll be fine, but he spared out of alot of carries with Ricky Williams last season; he doesn't have that luxury this season.

I think Cadillac will have a better season this year compared to Ronnie, but next season is where I think you will begin to see Ronnie start to pull away in this competition as he gets more help offensively (Culpepper).

I'd like to see some more discussion on these two players.

They are both ranked closely together in the second tier of RBs. I see that DMD has Brown ranked ahead of Caddy. I wonder, for purposes of keeper leagues if Caddy should go higher, knowing that Ricky Williams will be back in Miami next year.

Any other arguments for or against the comparable rankings of these two?

None other than that IMHO the should be comparably ranked behind Rudi :D

All I can say is that Gruden will "pound the rock" with Caddy this season. He did that last year before he got hurt and then he did that when Caddy came back. Look for Simms and the passing attack to also open up the run. Caddy was awesome last season with a very bad o-line. The o-line is improved and the QB has more expierence. Expect more.

As for Brown and the fins, I dont think anyone really knows how this situation will turn out. Is Culpeper going to return to his pre-injury form?? Are the Dolphins ready to be a bigtime team again? Can Brown carry the load? One thing that is for sure is that Brown is capable of having a HUGH season just like Caddy is. I think DMD is right by having them very close in the rankings and I think you cant go wrong with either of them.

I think both are very good RB's. I would much, MUCH rather have Brown than Cadillac though. the consistancy you get from RB recieving threats means much in FF. with Caddilac you are gonna get very bad games when the running game gets stuffed. with Brown I would expect lots of catches in games that they get their run game stuffed, thus less bad games and more consistancy.

ummm, while i agree that caddy may have seen more downs from last year, when determining the "safe" pick, i have 2 questions to respond to the above.

the first would be: didn't caddy "pay" for those 80 more attempts as a rookie by missing more games?

second: at what point did caddy prove more than ronnie that he can shoulder the load and handle it?

overall, i think both of these guys have a very good shot at great years and more realistically think they both will. it would appear they are both in decent offenses and both of them can catch balls pretty well. neither have any major competition from back-ups either. i put them both in the top 10 this year barring critical injuries. personally, i lean toward ronnie when trying to decide who will have the better year. i think he's got less redzone players to compete with for scores.

Can't argue with that.

Gruden was giving the bean to Caddy near 30 times a game before he went down in week 4.

After he returned and was back up to speed, Gruden cut his workload back to ~22 carries.

22 a game still works out to the 350 range, so it's not as though Caddy will fall off the face of the earth, but I'd expect Gruden to probably keep him in the 20 carry range and try to get him the ball more often in the passing game.

I'd expect Caddy to end up with more TOTAL yds, but Brown to have more carries and tds. Interestingly enough, Brown ended up with about a catch a game more than Caddy did. I don't know many who would have expected THAT.

i feel lucky to have both Caddy and Ronnie in a 16 team IDP league that we drafted for this yr(prior to ricky getting suspended)

I think both will be top 10 with top 5 not being out of the question

Kinda off topic unless your in a dynasty league, but I don't think it's a definite that Williams comes back. If I understood everything right, on the 4th violation he has to reapply to enter back into the league and the commish may not let him back. Is that off? :D

Grabbed this right before me, MOBD...it's like sitting on SA after LJ and LT2 have been taken you you snaked him away!

IMHO, no way Ricky's back in Miami next year. Maybe even the NFL for that matter. The Fish know it now and they knew it when they drafted Ronnie Brown.

Still, though, an interesting topic. Brown or Caddy? Right now, I have to go with Caddy. When healthy last year, he was a top 5 back. I did not see that with Brown, what with Ricky Williams splitting carries. This season should really be the proving ground.

My take is that Brown is a power back - they tend to have a shorter shelf life.
