BigTen
Saw this today. Maybe this year he will become (for the whole season) what he was at Texas. Williams must slim down to 209 by camp Lions coaches want a slim Roy Williams and Charles Rogers by training camp, which begins in the end of July. The previous story says Rogers is down to 202, today's Free Press says Williams must be down to 209. Williams also says he's very excited for camp to begin, and doesn't want the time off. June 16, Free Press: Wide receiver Roy Williams is laying off the cookie-dough ice cream and Doritos. He's at 215 pounds right now. The coaches want him to report at 209. "I haven't been 209 since my junior year in high school," Williams said, "so it's going to be tough for me." ... Williams thinks the break is actually too long. "This takes it to a whole other level," Williams said. "This offense that we're running, and seeing what we're capable of with all the weapons that we have, it gets you really excited. I wish preseason started next week."
Puddy
That sounds encouraging. Wonder what the 'other' Williams plans on reporting at
Randall
I'm ready for the season too. There are some intriguing teams and players this year.
XXXXX
Also going to be fun to see some of these high-profile rookies in the preseason as well.
Furd
Are we supposed to be excited because Roy Williams says that he is excited to be in camp? How depressing.
Jules_Winfield
with a former back up bengal and a former back up cardinal cometing for the qb job, too bad williams will have to take the snap directly from center if he ever wants to touch the ball[ quote name=BigTen' date='6/18/06 9:02pm' post='1521186] Saw this today. Avernus
actually...Kitna and McCown are improvements over Garcia/Harrington... the only question is...can the OL hold up?
Doc Holliday
actually...Kitna and McCown are improvements over Garcia/Harrington... the only question is...can the OL hold up? Agreed, if the line holds up I would be suprised to see the Lions do not at least decent from the QB position. I am very happy with Kitna, and make no mistake about it, he is my Lions starting QB.McCown IS the backup. the line is young and upcoming. I mean don't get me wrong, I am not expecting a superbowl, but this is the 1st time since we hired Bobby Ross as coach that I feel we are headed in the right direction. last time our owner let our players ruin him( Ross). This time Marinelli has control and I like what I am hearing out of camp with the attitudes of the players.
BigTen
Are we supposed to be excited because Roy Williams says that he is excited to be in camp? How depressing. It is a start isn't? I cannot recall the last time I heard a Lion player who stated he was excited about camp, can you? Besides we need guy like Roy to get his football attitude back. It makes guys play better when they are enjoying it. Maybe this year will really help him get back to where he can be. Otis
Roy Williams is BUY candidate, because this is the last preseason you will be able to get him for less than top-ten WR value. A solid QB in Kitna + Mike Martz = emerging stud.

Perchoutofwater
Roy Williams is a GREAT WR when healthy. The only problem is he has trouble remaining healthy. Even when he was at Texas he always had something tweaked. I'm a huge Texas fan and a huge Roy Williams fan, but I'm afraid he is a little bit better version of Donte Stallworth until proven otherwise. I think I can get him as my #3 in my local...THINK is the key word here... If I can get one tier 1 WR and maybe another....or a tier 2 wideout...I'm content with Roy and Muhammed as my 2 #3's
NAUgrad
I would love to grab him in my keeper league to put together with S. Smith, J. Jurevicius, and L. Evans to round out my WR core.
thecerwin
A guy in my league is hell bent on using a keeper on Roy. Think he should be drafted in the top 6 rounds?

Caveman_Nick
The thing that concerns me is that Roy Williams is a beast of a WR because he is so strong that he just overpowers defenders. If he gets too light it might cause him to change his game to something it's not.
