Ralph Furley Posted July 4, 2006 Share Posted July 4, 2006 My brother in law started a new keeper league last year with some of his buddies and asked if I wanted to join. So I gave my $150 entry fee and joined. Draft day rolls around, and needless to say, I had an ok draft. Not great, not bad, just ok. Well, I had a few players go down and it looked as though my playoff chances were slim to none. Seeing as how there was really no way to make the playoffs, I started to trade some of my valable players for draft picks this year and watched my team struggle for the rest of the year. I managed to get an extra 1st rounder, and extra 3rd rounder, an extra 4th rounder, and an extra 9th rounder. Some of my good keeper options included Reggie Wayne in the 6th round and Palmer in the 8th. Well, I found out today that the league is no longer going to be in existence because stupid crap. People were complaining about stuff and basically making the commish's job harder than it should be. confuse me more!??? Seriously? This sucks. Hopefully one of his buddies will step up and be commish. I would, but I don't know any of these guys and from the sound of it, it won't happen. What a kick in the nuts. I blackballed 3 owners from last year.....2 for BS shenanigans and 1 for not even paying half of his league dues (160).... I'd like to get some sort of consistency so we can make this a keeper league and cut down the time of the draft.....because the draft runs for hours and hours... I enjoyed this new fantasy football thing so much I kept it going. They were all his friends and the one or two I did know moved away. I made some calls to people I barely knew and 12 years later it is still going with 50% (6)of the original guys, none I knew are still in it. Bottom line don't let be the reason you drop out. If you don't want to be commish that's another issue. You can earn their respect and trust quickly with a good off season commish wise. Was your brother-in-law the Commish? I know people can make it tough, but it sounds like he is the one screwing you over by bailing on the league. Can't you talk him into just sucking it up so that you're not getting the shaft by missing out on some great opportunities this year?
