Atlanta Cracker
I just noticed on their site that registration begins August 1 ! Untateve has a reservation at the Cracker BGE resort. I have nothing on the agenda for that weekend other than some eggin and football watching so lets coordinate who all is going to be around and plan a get together. We can do a cook at my place or meet up elsewhere.
loaf
We're staying at the Official Eggtoberfest hotel. Should be rolling in Thursday night. Maybe go out. Gonna probably do Fogo's for Lunch on Friday. Friday night's the meet and greet then go out. Saturday's the event, eat till you can't eat anymore, puke, get back in there and eat some more. head back to the hotel, maybe catch a nap then go out. Sunday drive home.

Big John
I actually have a couple events in October, but this is between those 2 weekends, so I can make any outside activities.

Given that there's football on sunday, I may see if I can arrange to fly back on monday. so far, it looks like AC, loaf, big john, and me. And BGEs as far as the eye can see. I think my underwear just got a little moist. excuse me.
loaf
Those of us with smokers actually spend the weekends cooking stuff instead of talking about it. Saturday's event will have about 500 folks making their best for you to sample. From 8 AM's cheesy casserole to 5 PM's pineapple upside down cake. And everything in between. With plenty of beer in between. Ahh good times. Can't wait.

Chief Dick
Too much info. In all honesty, any event that brings people together in the name of grilling/bbqing/smoking is OK in my book.

loaf
head's still a little cloudy from all the drinking and waking up early. as BJ said, he came to my buddy's house in Marietta then we drove to this big honky tonk of a club called Cowboys. Beer was cold and the wimmens hot, just the way it should be. The test tube shot girls were walking around in assless chaps. Some with nothing but panties on , some with jeans underneath We played pool all night. The pool table was overlooking one of the many bar areas and John and I kept looking down into cleavages. Friday afternoon brought my brother and I to Fogo's, which was outstanding as usual. Met up with Atl Cracker and Unt there. Both good peeps who enjoy good liquor as well as good food. I could write a book about them but won't... Friday night brought the meet and greet at the BGE's headquarters. Here's the only shot I could find Not pictured is the inside of the tent that housed the food/alcohol. This evening's highlights were the duck crepes and lamb chops. Catered food, not BGE style. Good nonetheless. Saturday brought the Eggtoberfest, reports range from 1300 to 1600 folks showed up making this the largest Eggfest so far. So big that I didn't even see this stuff. Our motto of the day was, "Tastes like more!". One guy made bloody mary chicken wings which consisted of doing a shot of Stoli followed by a wing that was grilled in bloody mary mix. There were so popular that unt and I got shut out of the first wave. Cracker got one and since they were whole wings, I got a shot from the Chef and tried it. Not much of a shot drinker and I guess my face told them as much...Unt had to wait about 20 minutes for the next batch and he wasn't budging. He had the first spot in line and neither hell or high water was moving him. Cracker and I walked over to the beer cart and got refilled. Twice. Neither of you won anything in the raffle. I got claustophobic and had to move out of there. Plus it was hard to hear the numbers being called. Disappointing raffle to say the least. With as much as this event's grown, you'd think that they would by better Audio equipment to better reach the back of the crowd.... The second pic here is of YB. He cooks a pork crown roast that is outstanding. Outside is smothered in yellow mustard and seasonings. Each bone sticking up is its own pork chop that he further cut to hand out. My brother and I brought Andouille and Smoked Slovenian sausage with us. They survived the flight down and no one died from eating them, as Cracker and Unt had thought would happen... Gotta go, works lagging and I'm dragging...
Atlanta Cracker
What a whirlwind of a weekend... Good times I specifically remember: - Traffic - Loaf's brother protesting the taste of limes... then ordering a second drink (what were those called again?) - Two people on the shuttle after the meet and greet asking Unta and me if we were the two guys they had met by the pool who don't even own eggs but come for the fest all the time (and knowing they were referring to loaf and his brother) - Some woman carrying around and inflatable sheep (Apperently she thought Spain was coming). - Introducing Unta Saturday night as "my friend from a message board" - Big John's approval of my brats! - Unta continually requesting and receiving touchdowns from Crumpler. Big John
- Big John's approval of my brats! After you told me where you got them, I looked it up some more and found that place (Patak's) is less than 2 miles from my house. But it is off the beaten path in an odd location so I did not know about that place. Problem is that it has some odd hours and it closes before I can get to it after work. And follows the old German custom of being open only one Saturday a month and closed on Sundays.
loaf
the drinks were Caipirnhas and were mighty tasty. I didn't really taste a $2.50 difference between well and premium but hey, still went down smooth. And yeah, my brother getting the drink then saying he wasn't a fan of limes was pretty good. But I thought Unta's remark to him after that line, "Well, this probably isn't the drink for you", was up there as line of the weekend. I read on some message board that it gets pretty crazy there on that Saturday. You're proximity to them also explains why it took you so long to get to my house. I think it took me and Unta an hour and a half to make the trip Friday afternoon when we picked them up. Untateve is a big fan of traffic! untateve
I had a great weekend. AC and his wife are great hosts. Seriously great hosts. I never wanted for anything including morning coffee and crumpler TDs. I tasted some amazing food, including AC's brats---they were really nice. By sunday night, both AC and I mutually admitted that our stomachs were not quite used to all the alcohol and heavy duty food. Come monday morning, I skipped breakfast until I got to the airport. My stomach thanked me. Saturday was much like what heaven is, I imagine. A million or so Eggs all cooking at once and everyone offering up food to taste--including: pickled watermelon rinds wrapped in bacon, pizza, chicken liver wrapped in bacon, fish, shrimp, pork, chicken, pineapple, ribs--really nice ribs, the aforementioned bloody mary chicken wings, and flank steak. There were other things but I don't waste my time with bread or veggies. I likes the meat. loaf and his brother are good Eggs (hah! get it?) and loaf's recommendation on fogo de chao was excellent. It's pretty funny watching all these long-time BGE people remember loaf from all of these Eggfests, yet he has no Egg. kukukoocho, he is the Eggman. And finally, I got to meet the legend, Big John. I will say his huddle knowledge is rather inspiring as was his love for ynglng (sp?). He definitely enjoyed the brats, given the number he consumed. It was a great weekend. I'm thinking next year, I'll have to cook at Eggfest.
