i saw on DMD's latest news that the titans are going to work out kerry collins. maybe it is for competition for volek, but i think he is coming, if he does, to take mcnairs place as a voice of experience. i dont think he will play a down unless volek gets hurt or absolutely blows.

Floyd Reese denied that Collins is coming into Nashville for a visit. He said that he hasnt spoken with Collins or his agent and that he has no intention of bringing him into camp. Reese said he was unsure how this rumor got started but its not true. Let me see if I can find a link.

Collins update: General Manager Floyd Reese dismissed an ESPN report that the Titans were having veteran quarterback Kerry Collins in for a physical Friday that would lead to his signing. "It's news to me," said Reese, who acknowledged he had recently spoken with the quarterback's agent. "I have never talked to Kerry Collins. We never set up an appointment to get him in or anything else."

Asked if an interest in Collins could emerge, Reese said: "I would be shocked. We are trying to look at these guys. We don't have any plans to bring anybody in."

Collins, an 11-year veteran, played for the Oakland Raiders last season.

Makes no sense to me why Tennesee would even want Collins. Volek is good enough to start the season. Either they'll be good and Volek will continue to play or they'll stink and Young will gets some reps. If the Titans are not good, why would they turn to Collins instead of giving the young guy PT? Don't see where Collins fits in there at all.

agreed. I have no idea why this Collins rumor continues to rear its ugly head. the only way they would sign collins is if Volek gets injured in the pre-season. Otherwise, they ride Volek for as long as they can with Young getting only occasional mop up duty.

Seems like a crazy rumor with maybe a hint of fact-

Titan's have Voleck as their starter.

Just signed VY to a huge contract.

Just got out a salary cap "heck" but had to release a lot of good players to get here.

Collins wants starters money- with a good bit of up front money in the form of a large signing bonus.

I just don't see where any of that fits the Titan's rebuilding plan.

Now- they may be looking at Collins, and perhaps give him a workout as a backup plan. Basically get a look at him now, so they can evaluate him in the the event something bad happens in camp, or in the early part of the season.
