Updated: July 31, 2006, 8:34 PM ETTitans release RB NashAssociated Press National Football League News Wire CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans released running back Damien Nash on Monday morning, finally losing patience with their fifth-round draft pick of 2005. Nash reported to training camp expecting to compete with a large crop of running backs: Chris Brown, Travis Henry, rookie draft pick LenDale White and Jarrett Payton. But Titans coaches said he was out of shape and about 10 pounds over the weight they required for camp. Coach Jeff Fisher had Nash working with the training staff, but it was too little, too late for the running back out of Missouri. "Damien came in and he had some difficulty just getting it," Fisher said. "He was doing well in May, then kind of tailspinned out and was in no kind of shape and was overweight. To me, I want guys that are committed to what we're doing." Nash played in three games as a rookie and carried six times for 32 yards. rbmcdonald
1,440 playes were drafted over 45 round and six weeks in Home Field Advantage, and Nash was not one of them. Does that make him the 1,441st ranked fantasy player? Edited August 1, 2006 by rbmcdonald
spain
He actually came into camp last year with a great deal of enthusiasm by ff players. But he didnt live up to expectations, got into Jeff Fishers doghouse, and then with the drafting of Lendale White moved further down the depth chart. He was still expected to compete with Payton for the final rb spot on the roster. When he reported to camp fat and out of shape, it gave Fisher the perfect opportunity to send a message to his young team that if you arent 100% commited to being a football player, then you wont be around long.
