Bengal Mania
(see Bengals.com for stories) So far in camp, Palmer has only sat out the 2nd session of two-a-days. Not a surprise there at all. We're still not gonna know about the season yet, but boy is it good to see him practicing. I feel better about the long term prognosis every day. Might struggle early in season even if he plays, but I bet in 2nd half of year he's the best QB in the game. In practice and scrimmage, they will keep him from taking a hit, but I'm guessing he still stays out of the first 2 preseason games (or just goes in for a series to hand off, so at least he can see a defense in another color for a couple plays) In other Bengals news: -Odell Thurman is in camp, but is not gonna practice for a couple more weeks. He is seriously in Lewis' doghouse (as he should be), is 4th on the depth chart. There are rumors Lewis may suspend him for the rest of the year (I'm doubting this one until I see it) -the other "character" guy they got in the supplemental draft, Ahmad Brooks (WV?), is supposedly a freak of nature (BIG, fast, and hits like a truck). He's turning heads in camp already, I hear/read. If he grows up (seemingly hard to do here supposedly) and get his act straight, Thurman might not ever get his starting job back. You heard it here. If he doesn't get his act straight, and gets arrested for selling acohol to underage girls while smoking pot and waiving guns at cops (henceforward to be called the "Henry Medly"), then never mind what I said about replacing Thurman. -Rudi's knee is healthy, he's leaner, stronger, faster. If DMD doesn't already do it, move him up your draft board a notch. -Chad is enertaining everyone at camp, fans, teammates, etc. -If you hadn't heard, Levi Jones (LT) signed an extension, so 2 of the 5 guys on the best line in football (IMO) are on board long-term. I bet either Willie Anderson or Steinbach gets re-signed by next year (or franchise tag?), and the other is gone. That would still be a pretty good outcome. -No additional arrest reports, court reports, etc
Mr.OG
Isnt it incredible how fast Palmer has recovered. Good news on the scrimmage, thanks!

kingfish247
Cincinatti is a recipe for disaster this season imo. Just a gut feeling I guess.... the off the field problems, question marks with Palmer's injury, the tougher schedule due to last season's success, and the music video with Bootsy Collins. I can just see them as one of those playoff teams where the problems keep mounting until it reaches critical mass and they miss the playoffs entirely. It happens every year with about half the playoff teams.

Bengal Mania
How's Chris Perry coming along? They're saying he's the last guy likely to be released to practice, which isn't a good sign. I've heard some chatter saying he'll be ready for season, others saying they're concerned. Team hasn't officially said anything, so treat all as rumor until a couple more weeks go by. Hope he can play. He's a tremendous weapon. Cincinatti is a recipe for disaster this season imo. It happens every year with about half the playoff teams. All of these reasons could lead to missing playoffs, I have some concern too (esp for an inexperiences team dealing w/ all the above. But...... off field - true its a concern, but only 1 true starter (Thurman) is out for some time. I think there's enough vets of help Marvin overcome. Palmer's Injury - is everything here. He misses significant time, they are NOT making playoffs. But the signs sure are encouraging (signs are all we're gonna get now, nothing definative) schedule - yes and no. There are still only two games different than Pitt. Cincy plays at Indy, while Pitt plays Jax. Palmer would've beat Inday last year if they had 1/2 a defense. Jax is a tough team, too, who I think will give Pitt all they can handle. The only other diff game is Cincy play New Eng at Cincy, while Pitt plays Miami. Again, it is a tougher game for Cincy, but Miami is on the rise, too. Otherwise, it is a much tougher sched than last year, will make it harder to earn a wildcard in that division I suppose. I'm quite shocked that Perry isn't whole yet. Something bad seems to be lurking there IMO. Dare we say injury prone? Maybe fair or not, but there always seems to be something 2 years running now... Off field - I'm not very concerned about this stuff since it hasn't been a core player on offense and just rookies or replaceables otherwise for the D. Thurman is a downer, but they have great depth at LB now. Palmer - Has sports medicine come so far? I'm giddy. Schedule - yes, much tougher than last year, but with a healthy Palmer, it is possible. The wild card is Baltimore IMO. If (BIG IF) they get a running game again, they will knock Pit or Cincy to 3rd, and hate to say it, but probably our Bengals... The Misfit
My reading is that Carson is on schedule to play in the third preseason game, which is a Monday night game (Aug. 28) vs. the Packers that ESPN is televising. Hopefully, we'll all get a good look at Carson's progress. Unfortunately, that will be a little late for a lot of fantasy drafts.
