Saw on this site that his knee is sore, the same knee he injured last year.

Bear Homers.....what's the inside scoop? Is it serious and something that's going to linger for a while or just some early soreness from working out (ie trying to get into "football shape")

Anything serious and I'm going to try to screw someone over and trade him :D

Knee sore, so Benson sits

BY K.C. JOHNSON AND JOHN MULLIN

Published August 2, 2006

BOURBONNAIS -- The Bears keep insisting they need three running backs to win, and perhaps Tuesday night served as proof.

With Thomas Jones still out with a strained hamstring, Cedric Benson joined him on the sidelines with soreness in his right knee. Benson said no magnetic resonance imaging test is scheduled and he expects to practice at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Benson, who missed six games after spraining the medial collateral ligament in that knee last season, said he noticed soreness and swelling after Monday's practice.

"It's probably those crazy defensive guys running into me," Benson said, smiling. "Could be that, could be camp, could be my injury from last year. It's just a little sore."

Jones, meanwhile, said his hamstring is improving because of three treatment sessions daily. But there still is no timetable for his return.

"It's hard to watch," Jones said. "This is the most time I've missed in the preseason. It's very important to practice and get a feel for the game. I'm trying to move around as much as I can without hurting it worse. I'll be back soon."

Adrian Peterson ran with the first-team offense.

"Every time we've called on him, he has met the challenge," coach Lovie Smith said.

The Bears also held out safety Mike Brown and receiver Mark Bradley, two players recovering from injuries last season. Smith said that's part of the plan in training camp.

Rookie safety Dwayne Slay became the latest Bear to suffer an injury with a pulled hamstring Monday night.
