einstein
What NFL teams are using thie zone blocking scheme? This seems to put Denver on top of the NFL every year?
skins
Since getting Portis Washington has implemented some zone blocking, something Gibbs had never really done before.

Bill Swerski
The Colts use it heavily, especially with the stretch plays out of the two-TE sets.
Return Of S&B
Norv Turner tried to use it last year with the Raiders...didnt work...you have to have relatively light, fast, athletic lineman (something the Raiders didnt have) as opposed to big overpowering maulers for it to work. I believe since Norv is the offensive coordinator in SF now, it will be implemented there if it hasnt been already. Bengal Mania
does "zone" stand for "cheap cut back blocks into the knees of defensive lineman" you're sure right, no one runs this "scheme" better than the Brokebacks.....er...I mean Broncos
RussMan
The Lions offens, under Martz, will be zone blocking. http://www.lionbacker.com/forum/viewtopic....t=zone+blocking
Azazello1313
i think "zone-blocking scheme" is on its way to becoming the next "west coast offense"....something that gets sorta copied, watered down and bassturdized to the point where the term just becomes a buzzword and no longer really means anything specific. jgcoach
That's the one I was thinking of It's only the backside of the play where the cut block used. DEs & OLBs off the ends see that all day long. It's not a cheap shot and legal where the block occurs. It's football, not chess.
